sony_man
whats the difference between gold plated and non plated plugs?
raintheory
Supposedly gold-plated plugs are better quality and resist corrosion. However, since gold is an inherently soft metal, I would assume that they would wear out quicker... I could be very wrong in this, but hey, it makes sense to me. Anyone else have thoughts? sony_man
so if you used non plated, would it ruin your ports on your portables?
Skradgee
Using non-gold-plated plugs defenitly will not ruin the ports/jacks on your portables. I honestly have never noticed a difference in sound between gold and non-gold plugs. I have however noticed that after awhile, the gold will wear off gold-plated plugs and pretty soon you have to buy more gold-plated stuff. Hmmm. :whatever:
Bananatree
Gold does resist corrosion and will wear off pretty easily. Gold adds extremely little to no sonic fidelity.
