Happy Hopping
http://www.planetminidisc.com/mdb-20pw.html You know, I just don't know why on earth sony change the plastic envelope (jacket) to store the blank Hi MD to be bigger than the old MD plastic envelope. I check the above link, there is only MD storage case for the regular MD, not the ones w/ the longer rectangular case, so my question is: Is there a storage case, similar to the above link, that can fit the longer rectangular HiMD plastic envelope as well as fit the old MD plastic envelope? PaulV
i was wondering this too. they are the same height as a cassette but a mm or two wider. maybe a wooden cassette tower sanded to make the holes a little wider? i like the new cases! MDGB2
Buy a storage case? A saw, hammer, nails and a couple of bits of wood will do just fine...
Fat Tires
Give it time, I'm sure that if Sony sticks with this design, some one will get around to designing a Hi-MD compatible storage rack. MDGB2 has a point though. You could always build one for yourself fairly inexpensively.
DoofKcans
I've found the best storage for the MiniDiscs are the wood boxes that cigars are sold from. If you go to most cigar stores with a MD to test with and some cash (they sell in Michigan at around $5.00 - $25.00 depending) you can probably find one of their used cigar boxes that'll fit your requirements. The regular MD fit well for me in the "avo No.5 TUBOS" boxes with a sliding lid, which I get for $5.00. I can fit 62 - 68 discs in one. p.s. - I think a cigar box was used to store a data disc (MD?) in the beginning of the first Matrix film
streaml1ne
Nope, it was a hollowed out copy of Simulacra and Simulation
Fat Tires
You can try to build something similar to this.
yakko
I found these great plastic storage units you carry like a brief case. Got them at the container store a few years ago. I'm having the same problem that they don't fit the new larger cases. I was trying to figure out why they came out with them that size as well. It's as annoying as those Super Jewel cases SACDs have been coming in lately. They don't fit in CD holders, nor DVD holders. What's the deal? petertkalec
Yeah, I just picked up my first blank (besides the one that came with the unit) and I think it's goofy. I like the minimalist sleeve. Oh well.
Guest Guest
I suspect the larger packaging is a marketing tool used to add "perceived value" to the discs, allowing the buyer to better justify their cost.
Happy Hopping
I have to wait for the link I posted above, or some other MD storage co. to come up w/ a compatiable case. I must have a dust proof case due to the nature of a MD.
