Christopher
The battery life is still quite impressive, but I have no doubts that it'd only be like that if you were playing back 48kbps ATRAC3plus. I imagine 256kbps ATRAC3plus will net in 15-20 hours with the A3000? I've never really tested it out with my HD3, perhaps I should see what I average. Anyone ever test battery life with their ATRAC device?

Ishiyoshi
hi alldoes someone know when connect player will be released and if it will work with the hd5 ??←Welcome to ALC!Sony's new Network Walkman devices are due this 4th quarter ~ November 19, 2005. Therefore, the "CONNECT Player" should be released about the same time.At this point, it's plausible to state that the "CONNECT" player will at least be useable with the NW-HD5. However, there's just not enough information as to how many "SonicStage" era devices will be supported. All I can say is stay tuned!
LNTwebmaster
I told you I threw the brochure in my trash hehe but I dig a little in teh paper basket and I found it, and here a scan of it, the up to 30h battery life is according to this flyer when you play ATRAC3. LNTwebmaster
well, the offcial number is now 35hrs...this is coming from the sony uk website...wont argue with that!←hum..are you a kid?I posted that not to go against your post but to complete that one=>The battery life is still quite impressive, but I have no doubts that it'd only be like that if you were playing back 48kbps ATRAC3plus. I imagine 256kbps ATRAC3plus will net in 15-20 hours with the A3000? I've never really tested it out with my HD3, perhaps I should see what I average. Anyone ever test battery life with their ATRAC devicenow we have the info that 30h is for ATRAC3 playback which actually MEANS SOMETHING if it's right, in usual Sony precise the max playing time for the lowest Atrac3+ compression rate..well we don't know if it's Atrac3 "Sp" or "LP" hehe (knwoing SOny probably LP at 132 ;p)and if you wanna argue....your uk site as you are so proud of it is the only one of the 38 europeen SONY other site to say up to 35h....all other are not mentionning it or precise 30h for Atrac3 playback....so if there is an error..its' probably from your site hahahah Edited September 30, 2005 by LNTwebmaster
szsiddiq1214
sorry! i didnt say that to argue with you at all. in fact, im just frustrated with for releasing such oddball numbers. and talk smack about sony UK all u want, im in the US where sony will not even aknowledge the existance of the new walkman line up! :-pagain, sry, didnt mean to come off as argumentative.and thanx for the info on ur end

szsiddiq1214
Theres a commercial for the new player now on the sony flash based walkman connect site (www.walkman.sony.co.jp/walkmanconnect/main.html) under the TVCM branch on the top menu.it must be the commercial franz ferdinand was in tokyo to record...the naration of the commercial is in english, and the theme of the narration is kinda creepy...lol, definatly not a marketing technique that wud be used in an english speakin country...its all about how the connect player remembers wut u listened to and then tells u wut u shud listen to...creeeeepybut anyways, i was hoping itd give us a better look at the play it self, but no dice...altho u do get to see it do a lil bit of animation, whichs looks kinda cool to mealso, for anyone who asked, the part of the site that covers teh connect software seems to say windows is required to run it...but most of the sites in japanese, so, i cant be sure
pata2001
LOL. Yup, the TVCM is kinda weird. I don't think I want a device that knows what I'm going to listen to tomorrow... LOL.
chiiburg
I got my hands on a pre-production model of the new WALKMAN player yesterday - it looks fantastic. Attached are a few pictures I took. They're a bit rough & ready as I only had 10 mins with the player - on a table in the Sony canteen(!)More information at Sony Product News. ←wait...is that player next to the mini ipod the size of the a3000 or the a1000? cuz the first pic is of the 20gb one. Ascariss
Hmm looking at the specs of the new A3000, it states this as one of the specs:6 EQ mode: Heavy/Pop/Jazz/Unique/Custom 1/Custom 2 I have this on my MD and the remote as well, which I ask, will the remote then be able to function fully with this unit? bleh2k5
How much of an improvement are the NW-6 series over the NW-E series?I'm tempted to get the NWE507S at the moment. I really don't want to have to wait until christmas until these newer products are released to find out there is no improvement at all other than a few new functions.Sony are so annoying ! Dinko
If the new Walkmans do scratch, they better not scratch as easily as the Nano. Frivolous lawsuits might follow:http://www.dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.2432I don't see these Sonys scratching that easily if they are made of the same materials as the Stick Walkman and are handled properly. Now, of course if you drop it on concrete twice a day without a protective carrying pouch...
Ascariss
Well I was at the sony store today, picking up new 'phones (Sony MDR-EX71SL), when I decided to ask the sales guy if he knew if they had new mp3 players coming in. (Sort of...)Good to know they're coming up north since neither of the HD2/3/5 made it and the Vaio pocket disappeared faster than an eye blink.I'm still not too thrilled with the brick, but the A1000 will look really good in my hands. jacktan138
Is Sony simply renaming the SonicStage as "Connect Player", or is it a new software? Tell me more about the "ConnectPlayer" software first, before I decide if it's worth my time to walk into a Sony Gallery to purchase a Walkman gadget. -JT

Ishiyoshi
How easily can the battery be removed - just like it was the case with the HD5 or more like with the MZ-N10 ?←It's relatively easy - removal of a few screws and two covers. Somewhat similar to how one would remove the internal battery of the VAIO Pocket.
Ascariss
I've never removed the battery from my MZ-N10, never really saw the point to it, but now I am rather tempted to see how easy it is to remove. lol But I think I will hold on that decision until I get my new NW-A3000.Hopefully it will be a gumstick like battery and not one like in my MZ-N10. Ishiyoshi
Both the NW-A3000/1000 employs two distinct flat type lithium-ion batteries respectively that are not in any way similar in size or appearance to the NiMH battery used by MD devices. Rest assured, removal procedure is very easy - just 6 easy steps.

EZero
By getting these, we aren't going to be screwed anytime soon, right?
