jase
Hi, New to Hi-MD (had MD for years though) just got my NH-900 which I understand is due to be superseded. (Technology moves too fast!!) The unit came bundled with SS 2.0 which I've upgraded to 2.1. Should I be going with the upgrades suggested on Connect.com or sticking to the recommended versions via the Sony Support site i.e. 2.1 at present. Any advice would be most helpful. CheersJase
Michael1980
2.3 is the current (and best) version of SonicStage.
zerodB
As far as SonicStage 2.0 goes, here are the differences between versions.2.0 - First Official Release. Originally shipped with Japanese/Asia Pacific ATRAC CD Walkmans. OpenMG 4.0 - which allowed unlimited transfers to devices. Supported NetMD, and Network Walkman in addition to ATRAC CD Burning.2.1 - Hi-MD Release with added Support for Hi-MD.2.2 - Special US Connect only release with additional online music store features (ie. Connect Radio)2.3 - Current Version. Added support for HDD Network Walkman and for Audio CD / MP3 CD burning (though this may have allready been present in your previous CONNECT version). Some people claim that the ATRAC3/+ encoder is better in 2.3, but I seriously doubt that is the case. If your current SS works fine, I see no real reason to upgrade. There are no new features or benifits that would warrant an upgrade.
Christopher
Welcome, jase. 2.3 seems to be the most stable in terms of uploading live recordings.

I've just bought (within the last 3 weeks) a Hi-MD NH900, and the software which came on the bundled CD is SS2.0. When I follwed the prompts etc. I found an offer to update me to SS2.1, but no mention of 2.3. Why wasn't 2.1 on the CD delivered with my unit, and as I have been able to transfer Hi-MD files to my PC, what am I missing by staying with 2.0 ? (I'm sort of resistant to upgrade on 2 accounts: 1, If it ain't broke, don't fix it; and 2, I'm on a dial-up connection, and the download time of 2.1 would exceed my "connect" time.Otherwise, my unit makes good recordings. atrain
do you have a time out or data limit on the dial up conx malcolm? it's around 30meg to update but it's a little more stable & has a slightly changed encoderif you do have any issues with 2.0 i'd advise you to leave the pc on overnight to get 2.
