jeddeth
so I bought a MZ-RH910 at datavis.com yesterday but to my dismay it does not come with a remote control, much less a backlit remote control. That really sucks. Considering that the remote is going to cost another 70 - 100 bucks, I think it makes much more sense to buy the MZ-RH10 if it comes with a remote and the OLED. WHat was sony thinking? Why would anyone but a minidisc without a remote?
Christopher
Not even a control stick? Maybe they thought that on-unit functionality would be superior. I can also imagine that they didn't add a remote to make it cheaper.

Why have the remote when you can see everything on the unit, at night no less!
jeddeth
but it's good to have a remote when doing stealth recording because you don't want to be showing off the unit...by the way, the remote pictured in the manual (for non-north american units) does not look like it has any lcd either... just the standard buttons.I remembered however that I have a remote from my MR-90 and I think it may be backlight, so I'm gonna try that out when I get home. Kaotic
hmmm, interesting. I wasn't aware of that RH910 didn't include a remote.I'm getting the RH10 so I don't have to carry a remote. Why have the remote when you can see everything on the unit, at night no less! I looked at specs listed for RH10 @ datavis, it does states that RH10 does have a remote. So, I guess that's why Rh10 is cost $100 USD MSRP more than the Rh910.

atrain
it's the ipod factor, people flash around a unit with no remote, if only to change tracks.the chicken & egg question is- is there no remote because people don't want it?- no remote because of cost?- or does sony think we all wish to be main unit dependant?for me the remote if one of the main features that attracted me to md. put the md in your bag & clip the remote to your shirt/pocket/bag strap whatever
