sazmeise
Does anyone know if SonicStage 3.0 can be used in europe i.e. i'm in ireland myself. I noticed on the UK site the newest version of sonic stage available for download is 2.1. Sony Europe Download pageI tried downloading the files for SonicStage 3.0 and installing but it couldn't read my hiMD.I can't use the SonicStageInstaller because i don't have an internet connection at home ( i download all the files I need in college and bring them home on my USB ). At the moment I'm stuck with SonicStage 2.0 which is a pain in the hole because i can't use the Wav/mp3 convertor! Can anyone shed light on this for me?Saz***I'm using Windows XP, SP 2. bigtallrichb
Newbie here. Same issue. Any advice anyone? New MZ-NH900 in hand. Old Sonicstage2.1 AE in box. Is sonicstage 3.0 available for use in the UK/Europe or are we stuck with 2.1 - if so why!? If no 3.0 Are there any interim upgrades I can get? And any clues when this might be resolved? - seems a bit bizzarre. Thanks guys. Rich

I have just got a new NH900 in my hands. I am the same as you, a bit bewildered by it all. However, I did find this link to get SS version 2.3 for use in UK Sonicstage 2.3 for UKbtw 3.1 J is out, but not for the States nor UK - Japan only. dex Otaku
You can use 3.0, yes. The only thing that is adversely affected is the Connect part of the program, which is set to the American URI.You can change this to Connect Europe using a registry patch we've linked to in the software forum. I understood that version 3.0 could be used on only the US/Canadian machines (not the UK/European ones). Just as 3.1 can only be used on the Japan machines. I have installed 2.3 and it looks like it works ok with my new NH900.You seem to be saying I should upgrade to 3.0 using the SonicStageInstaller.exe link.btw how can I tell what type of machine I have - US or European. In fact, is there a difference? I recently bought it as one of the £70 deals from Amazon UK (although the invoice looks like it comes from Washington), and the back of the unit says "US and Foreign patents" - and is repeated in French. Whereas the Guarantee is European!!!As regards the "Connect part of the program" I don't think I shall be interested in that downloading stuff.Maybe it doesn't matter whether the unit is US or European, and I can simply go ahead and upgrade to Sonicstage 3.0 now. dex Otaku
I am not aware of any physical difference between the units in any region, other than enabled support for asian languages. European and North American units are the same except for a setting that limits the output levels of the headphone amp [which can be altered in service mode].If you're not interested in using Connect, the US/Canada version of 3.0 should not pose any problems for you. I would still recommend backing up your SS database [with the SS backup tool] before upgrading in any case, though.

Maybe I am a hammer, whatever that might be. Who knows?Anyway, back to My Question. Am I safe to use sonicstage or connect or whatever you want to call it, version 3.0[uS] with my recently purchased (UK) NH900 Sorry atrain, I don't mean to offend, but I am very confused with this NH900, plus all the software that goes with it, which version this, what dll that, plug this in here, different instruction for the unit and the remote (do I but another one, what's it called ELK, no here we are: RM-MC40ELK. It's all a new language I am trying to learn. Please bear with me - I've read many of your posts and I know you mean well and help a lot of folk - I'll catch up eventually, but it may take time
Christopher
Yes, that software is compatible with any Hi-MD unit, there is no regional requirement.Be sure to read the Sonicstage 3 help files before posting questions about that when they arise, btw. And also, in the future, please post new topics for questions you have instead of doing so in others, it kinda loses focus for the person who initally posted the topic [i.e. you wouldn't want someone to have a birthday party at your birthday party, no? ]. sazmeise
Damn Right, and i'm a 'ol lady not a chap by the way. Basically i dont give a crap bout Connect. I tried installing Sonicstage 3.0 and it can't read my nh900 and i can't find a solution why!I'm not sure if it could be something to do with using the link in my second message above to install the files seperately rather than the SonicStageInstaller. Otherwise there must be a problem with my pc? But if SonicStage 2.0 could read it then i don't see why SonicStage 3.0 can't unless its the wrong version.I've a feeling its not time to blow out the candles just yet!Saz***understood sazmeise, come on ol' chap, I'll move aside - it's time to blow out your candles ←

sazmeise
Its the only way i can install it without an internet connection. I'll give it another lash i suppose! Why does it need to register with the server anyway? It that for the connect store? Saz***Reinstall via the directions in the FAQ. MusicBringer
Damn Right, and i'm a 'ol lady not a chap by the way.Saz***←ooopps, please accept my humble apologies my dear Saz, my situation is different to yours coz I DO have internet connection. But just to give you some encouragement - as it's your un-birthday today - I have just followed those instructions: Uninstalling all OpenMG software I could find in Add/Remove Programs, deleting directories left right and centre in Documents and Settings, and Program Files and so on. Even got into the registry. Wow . Anyway I did all that as instructed, then ran the SonicStageInstaller.exe and guess what? It Works! I DO hope things will work for you too. sazmeise
ITS WORKING! YIPEE!I dont know why i didn't think of this earlier - basically my problem was that i was able to install it but it couldn't read my mini disc.So my solution is to remove the previous version of sonicstage 2.0. Then i found the driver on the SonicStage 2.0 cd and ran that setup file [it was in drivers -> ma i think]. Next i think it was the following files i installed: http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download.../common/wmf.ziphttp://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download.../common/msc.ziphttp://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...mmon/openmg.ziphttp://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...er/us/sonic.zipI didn't bother installing this because its the connect store:http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...er/us/addon.zipThis wouldn't install because i had the wrong os or os version (i just realized i only have XP SP1 and not SP2 so thats probably why:http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download.../common/msi.zipI didn't need to install this because i have it already:http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...r/common/dx.zipI didn't install this either because i saw a message with someone recommending not to:http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...common/mdac.zipThis is the driver that was in the original download list but it doesn't recognize my NH900 hiMD so i'm not sure what its for:http://qw-cx-ssd.sonypictures.com/download...mmon/driver.zipSo everythings working perfectly now and i'm happy not to bug the forums anymore! the only thing i did notice that i'm missing is the option to write to a cd - i dont plan on doing that with sonicstage anyway so i don't mind.Saz***ooopps, please accept my humble apologies my dear Saz, my situation is different to yours coz I DO have internet connection. sazmeise
I nearly cried I was so happy! I'd been trying to get it working for so long. I was nearly at the stage where i was going to ask college if i could bring my tower down and connect it to the network SonicStage 3.0 is so fast too! And its so easy to upload and change to wav format!I nearly had a panic attack when transferring some of my fav live recordings and they disappeared from my md and didn't transfer! Then I remembered I'd transferred them a week ago in openMG format PHEW! Whats with the 'only uploading to computer once' thing anyway? Wait.. don't answer that... I wouldn't want to lose focus for the person who initally posted the topic Saz***So it's time to cut the cake and celebrate. Hooray!! jimmyuk
I used this installer for SS3.0, from zdnet.com.au. It works fine with my NH1 but, as stated above, the Connect is pointed to the US site. I imagine there's a way to fix this in the registry, but I haven't found it yet. It contains a registry file that modifies your registry, such that SS will point to Connect EU. I guess from there SonicStage will find out where you're living. gigolo
Downloading music with SS 3.0 (US version) from Connect Center Europe works too, though the verification process complains about it can't find the SonicStage version (the provided link attemps to download SS 2.3).
