NEW: Network Walkman "NW-A608/SI" Winter Special Edition

SonyStyle Japan Ltd. announced today that it will release a “Winter Special Package” that will consists of two Network Walkman "NW-A608/SI" as a SonyStyle Japan exclusive for 52,500 yen (approx. USD$450); just in time for Christmas in Japan. The “Winter Special Package” reservation via SonyStyle will begin on November 30th and it will begin shipping in early December 2005.

What distinct the NW-A608/SI from the rest of the upcoming NW-A608? The NW-A608/SI comes in a special “snow silver” color, features a special holographic WALKMAN logo that changes color when viewed from a different angle and a special “brushed aluminum” finish to the back of the NW-A608/SI. In addition, it also offers a new “Snow Crystals” screensaver. *click to view the screensaver

The “Winter Special Package” consists of two NW-A608/SI, separately packed in: a “Silver Box Package” and “Black Box Package” with the option to engrave the unit with a maximum of 15 characters to the back of the WALKMAN.

The “Black Box Package” comes bundled with a SonyStyle original case whereas the “Silver Box Package” comes bundled with a special Crystal case. In addition to the special carrying case, both packages come with the usual bundled accessories and CONNECT player.

It looks like a very bright silver rather than the usual grey silver but it is really hard to tell with these as they change so much according to the light conditions.

Rats....If only SonyStyle in other countries would follow suit.

The engraving option sounds like whats offered with the iPod Nano.

Does the silver carrying case have sort of bubbles in it?

please consider that that price is just yen to USD conversion.

any products that release in US is always much lower in price compared to japanese.

it seems like that is japan exclusive, but "IF" that comes out in US at all, it will be much lower in price like any other products.

Yes, that is indeed correct. I realized that I did not word the paragraph properly to reflect --> one set of a "Winter Special Package” consists of two units (I believe they will be packed separately in “Silver Box Package” and the “Black Box Package” respectively) and it will cost 52,500 yen for the set. In addition, the "Winter Special Package" is strictly a SonyStyle Japan limited edition with only 2005 pairs available via the special sale.

Ok 450 is a bit better for 2 units, but why not just sell each individually as well? Unless they will. Still having a limit edition would be nice indeed.
