mixmasterkev
Hi thereIm new to this forum and so I apologise if this topic has already been covered elsewhere:Ive owned my net MD for about 2 years now and though it has been good to me, i have followed the masses and now bought a 20 GB ipod.Is there software existing that enables me to transfer my songs stored on my minidiscs (in ATRAC format) onto my ipod?Apologies if this has been already asked and if it is a completely basic question (i am a self-confessed technicological incompetent!) Bananatree
If your ATRAC collection is is important enough, then burn them to am Audio CD, then rip them in iTunes. If not that, use a program like Audio Hijack pro to capture playing all of your ATRAC files, and save them as MP3s. mixmasterkev
HiThanks for the reply. I had a look at audio hijack pro online and it looks like exactly what Im after. Is it only for a MAC computer since I own a PC?Is there any other software that you can recommend that does a similar job?
Bananatree
Any program that can record a copy of a song playing inside the computer. I.e Playing from SonicStage and recording in the other program. I think some sound editers can do this. "TotalRecorder" I belive is the program originally used for digital uploads of HiMD discs to WAV in the days before the WAV converter and HiMDrender. Note: This will record in realtime. Therefore 1 hour of ATRAC = 1 hour of waiting. Also, this will result in a loss of quality due to recompression.Edit: Oh poop! I thought you wanted your ATRAC collection to go from your HDD to your iTunes music collection. Sadly another step is involved. Using the headphone/line out of your MD player/recorder and do a realtime record from the line-in on your computer. Unless you still have your ATRAC collection on your HDD, then do step 1. Syrius
If he has his collection in ATRAC still sitting on the HDD, he can use Hi-MDRenderer to convert them to the format of his choice.
Guest NRen2k5
If you have ATRAC recordings (.OMG files) on your computer, then you can exchange the I-Pod for a Sony NW-HD3. It will play .OMG files.

Sell your house, and all your assets, donate any non-saleable items, get rid of all your clothes, and go and spend the rest of your days in a monestary far away in the hills, quietly contemplating the inner mysteries of the universe. At least you'll never have to worry about transfering music from minidisc to ipod ever again, that's for sure!Dude, please try to keep your suggestions relevant.
