Sonicstage 3.1: Stops In Middle Of Conversion

So, I installed SS 3.1 and did everything it said to do. I restarted, plugged in my MD player with a blank in and open up SS. I click on transfer to Net MD (my model is a MZ-NF610) and select about five or so tracks to move onto my device. I click the move button (whatever it's called) and it starts converting the first track and then just stops doing anything at 51% (sometimes it's a little less sometimes it's a little more). After that it just keeps flashing the converting thing and showing how much time is left, which keeps rising with every flash.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Do you have ffdshow (video codecs) installed? If so, try disabling the mp3 filter by going to Start Menu > Programs > ffdshow > Audio filter configuration. Then, change the "MP3" setting from "mp3lib" to "disabled". This should solve the problem.

Any answers would be appreciated.#

It's just part of the accumulated lore of www.minidisc.org that ffdshow and SonicStage don't get along. Search the forums for ffdshow and you'll see how many times it has turned out to be the stumbling block.

Hi,

I have WindowsXP - I expect I do have "ffdshow" installed although I cannot find out where - its not as simple as it being under the All Programs bar in the Start menu

Where else can I find this ffdshow to solve exactly the same problem.

Mine gets to 54% or around that then I get an error saying the program cannot continue...

Please help sad.gif

okay P please read the stickies at the top of the software/support forum, esp the one about uninstalling & reinstalling the version from www.connect.com

if the problem still persists then start a new thread with your system specs & any error messages you get.

thanks

Find Audio Codecs, too, under Control Panel/Settings/System/Device Manager and see if ffdshow is listed there.

Also, in Add/Remove Programs, if you have anything called a codec pack installed, try uninstalling it. Your media players may have to download a new codec next time it's needed, but it's a very minor one-time inconvenience. Some codec packs contain outdated or just plain bad codecs that can interfere with SonicStage.

Hi,

Thanks, here are the list of items I have under the Video Codecs list in the Systems settings:

Cinepak Codec (CVID)

divx.dll

Indeo video 5.10

Indeo video interactive R4.1 by Intel

Indeo video R3.2 by Intel

iyuv_32.dll

JPEGCODE.DLL

Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec

Microsoft RLE Codec

Microsoft Video 1

msh261

msh263

msyuv.dll

PICVideo MJPEG Codec

Pinnacle PIM1 32-Bit AVI Codec

tsbyuv.dll

Any ideas as what I should uninstall ???? -it seems like if I uninstalled them all I would encounter major audio or video playing problems in the future... as you can see, no ffdshow is listed at all.

These are the Audio Codecs ones:

IMA ADPCM Audio CODEC

Microsoft ADPCM Audio CODEC

Microsoft CCITT G.711 Audio CODEC

Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio CODEC

DSP Group TrueSpeech Audio CODEC

msg723.acm

Windows Media Audio

Sipro Lab Telecom Audio Codec

Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec

Indeo audio software

Microsfot PCM Converter

Please help - reinstalling SonicStage didn't help.

Phil
