hi !

i have on my hi-md (mzn-h1) coulple of albumes of several artists, and i want to arrange each album to be in a single groupe. i dont mean putting all of the songs in one single groupe, but organizing diffrent albumes (grouped) into 1 folder:

for example:

if i have 5 albumes of green day i'd like them to be under a single folder named green day':

greenday (folder name)

->american idiot (another folder, but withing the green day folder)

->dookie (another folder, but withing the green day folder)

Hi-MD only supports one level of folders, it's simply not possible.

However, you could just put all the songs into a single group named 'Greenday' and make sure the "Album" column is filled in correctly for all the tracks. That way you can use the 'Album' playback mode to select the.. umm.. albums and the 'Group' playback mode for all the Greenday albums - you use the 'album' feature to subgroup tracks within a group:

greenday (Group Name)

->american idiot (Album Name)

->dookie (Album Name)

Also - like The Low Volta said - you could set each album as a group use the 'Artist' playback mode to group together all the groups.

greenday (Artist Name)

->american idiot (Group Name)

->dookie (Group Name)

Or alternatively you could just forget about the groups, make sure the Album and Artist information are filled out for every track, and let the respective play modes do the work for you wink.gif

If you are doing this on the HI-MD in the transfer screen, you can drag all the tracks into 1 folder and be done with the old empty folder (erase it). Is that what you are asking? Or are you asking about My Library Group folders?

you want to use the classic filetree browsing system like the irivers use. not posible with himd & although it requires well tagged id3 info the combo folder/tag info is superior to both filetree [iriver, iaudio] & id3 [ipod] imo

yes so to recap this kind of tree isn't possible:

          Artist
              |
------------------------
|             |              |
CD1        CD2         CD3

however all hiMD units are able to read the meta info on the transfered songs and and split up the songs into groups based on Artist/Album/etc

In fact using this device method you do not even need to use MD's group feature at all and it even makes no difference what order you transfer or place songs onto your disc
