Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. announced yesterday that it will release a new CD/MD/ Radio-cassette unit: "Clavia: RC-L1MD" on September 1, 2005. Expected retail price is approximately 34,000 yen and will be available in four color scheme – silver, white, black and pink.

For the forum’s interest, RC-L1MD’s MD module still remains as MDLP only. Notable features of this unit include: title search and the group retrieval, 5x speed recording from CD to MD (SP/LP2/LP4), "information sound" function available to complement its operation, timer function and alarm clock.

As for sound reproduction, the RC-L1MD employs Victor’s "α sound (alpha sound)" with three sound effects to choose: NATURAL/SMOOTH/DEEP and a sound lifter feature to enhance music playback. In addition, the unit offers a large-scale rainbow display so to speak; and the user can choose up to seven kinds of display patterns.

What is this "sound lifter", though? Another way of stating you can add an echo, like VPT Acoustic Engine, etc

According to Victor.JVC, "sound lifter" is a feature used to create surround sound so to speak; as illustrated in the picture in the preceding posts. As for its VPT Acoustic Engine equivalent, the Clavia: RC-L1MD employs Victor.JVC's alpha sound engine.

Call me crazy but that looks like it might be a decent unit for the night stand since it has the alarm clock function. Really don't need a cassette player but I might take a look at the black one. I guess it will be on Audiocubes or fleabay soon enough. Still wish it had Hi-MD playback...

Heh, hope it works better than the Sharp "Surround" feature, hahahahaha

Anyway, that all-white one looks SICK!! if it were cheaper, and like...available, I'd get one, it's cool. biggrin.gif
