NW-A608 colors

Question

I'm curious about the colors for the NW-A600 series. Sites list that they are silver, pink, violet, and blue-- but then the photo shown seems to indicate silver, pink, kind of a deep blue, and then a teal/ slightly greenish blue.

I'm assuming the deeper blue one is actually violet? Some other sites show the Violet as looking very purple. Which is it? More of a purple or more of a blue?

Also, has anyone seen the special edition Emerald Blue in person? It looks intriguing but I'm not sold on it yet.

I have seen the violet in Comet in UK, it's more of a purple. Not seen the bule yet, and son is after one.

That purrple colour looks quite dark(in sony website japan) & looks cool as well. But have you seen the silver one..???

Very cool. I wonder what the limited edition colors look like IRL. Part of me has the itch to try and get one now, and the other part of me says "hey wait a month or 2 and it'll be a lot cheaper to get it locally"... but crap, who knows when Sony plans on rolling these out in the U.S... could be a spring release :s

Rumz as for the cheaper price, depends, J&R is preordering the 2 gig models for 249 US on their site, that is equal in price to the canadian unit, which is 249.99 Canadian.

But Sony hasn't even announced it in the U.S., I think that pre-order price is fairly iffy if you ask me. I could be wrong, though... I just think it'd be ridiculous. The NW-E507 (1gb) is going for $150, I have a hard time believing they'd bring out an A607 @ $200 and an A608 @ $250.

Granted $250 may be on par with the announcement made in Japan, but even Sony Japan released the units at a lower retail price than announced in September.

True, but the price here announced by sony hasn't changed yet at all. It could be perhaps our 2 gig nano is also 249.99 at the local stores.

But the thing is, flash mem is expensive and rather rare now that apple scopped up the large majority of it. The 4 gig nano is the same price as the 6 gig A1000 here. Granted it is smaller, has a colour screen and better software, but there are downsides which i won't get into it.

So I am not sure how sony US will market the A600s in the US.

The NWE507 costs 219 up here so that is rather expensive, the bean walkman and the circle walkman are cheaper though for the same memory size.

Sony can charge a premium here I guess, but not sure on the US with the popularity of the nano. Problem is, J&R may be charging more than sony will for the A600, but usually most stores that I have pre-ordered stuff from were of the same price as from the original store.

Why bother waiting though, just buy one from canada lol.

Indeed, the frequency is only up to 90.1 I believe.

430 US for both is great deal, much cheaper than here in canada, although you would have to buy directly from japan somehow. Audiocubes doesn't carry the new A series yet at all.

While on ebay, the winter packge for both units is a shocking 599 US plus 45 shipping, so at 644 US, each comes out to 322 US. Almost the price of the larger A3000 in canada. Of course no one else would have the silverish white model but you would have also a non english manual as well.

Someone mentioned that with apple snatching up the bulk of the flash memory for their ipods, the high price of the new 2 gig models and limited availability most likely is connected to that problem. I am unaware from who sony buys their flash memory from.

So for people in the US, there are 3 options:

1. wait until Sony US announces the new models, perhaps in the new year

2. order one from japan either via ebay or online retailer (ebay = 295 US with shipping)

3. order one from canada with the radio fully working on all freq (~255 US with shipping)

My roommate is a Japanese international student, and he's going back for xmas ;D $430 US for both, or $215 each seems about the same as in Canada? $250 CAD = $216 US. Unless it was meant that it's $250 US in Canada... The limited editions always sell for less than the regular editions anyways. Plus, I don't listen to the radio ;)

Also, I just saw this new player from Panasonic and now I'm not so sure if i want an NW-A608. Not an atrac device, but worth a look nonetheless.

45 hours battery life, giving Sony a run for the money! But it costs even more :P

True, but my camera takes SD cards :D Too bad I only have a 256 mb one :( I wonder if AAC sounds better than atrac at bitrates in the 100-128kbps range. These 192-320kbps mp3s I have really fill up my 507 fast!

Isn't the 2 gig Nano $199? -10% edu discount for me..179 vs 249 *faint. That's almost 50% more for the sony.

No 2 gig Nano is the same price @ 249.99CDN. Unless your referring to US dollars. But if Sony officially brings out the A608 in the states it should cost the same as your Nano since it does here @199.99 US. Basiclly it seems they will match the 2 gig Nano price where they sell it which makes very good sense.

About that gold limited edition...

among those features...

- 2 GB flash memory

- The Sony unique G-sensor technology protects the internal HDD even if it falls from a height of 1 m

*cough*

What do you want ..Do you want information about all these or what?

He is pointing out, my assumption, that one it is a flash player and 2, there is no hard drive in it, so why would it need G protection.

Your Assumption looks quite a absurd one HAHAHAHAH

Flash player`s doesn`t have "G-sensor"

...that was my point, the product's features listed:

- 2 GB flash memory

- The Sony unique G-sensor technology protects the internal HDD even if it falls from a height of 1 m

as I noted a few posts ago... its an obvious oversight on the part of sony europe which I found amusing, and therefore posted here... way to go :P
