Just a silly question, Are ES Minidisc's just the same as old MD's i.e. they will work in my Hi-MD player? Their're not some sort of wierd format that won't work? I am sure they will, but I don't won't to bid on this auction if they're not gonna work!

Cheers

Yep, they will work perfectly. I use Sony ES discs with my Hi-MD and they reformat just fine.

AFAIK, 'ES' means 'Enhanced Standard' which means the discs are constructed out of better meterials and are built for reduced vibration during playback.

Looks like a great bundle there, good luck.

Here's hoping TDK or Sony bring about another "design line" of Hi-MD discs, I loved the MD ones.

Agree. I would like to see Hi-MD discs along the line of the Bit-Clubs or HO series. Did anyone see the TDK Flower LE edition discs? Bland10000 was kind enought to get some for me. Similar to the HO design in green and orange.

Yes, the new limited TDK Flower series looks very smart indeed. However, I am unable to locate them yet ~ will need to drop Bland a pm. wink.gif

The ES discs are my favorite to date.  I just love how sturdy they feel, and the cream color shell makes them look very professional.

ES ones are definitely nice, I think I only have one left now that isn't recorded on; 74min though I wish mine were 80min.

Sony did make one disc "over" the ES--the MD2000 biggrin.gif I have one of these (actually used to have 3 but sold 2). I think the MSRP was $20-$30 per disc. Magnesium shell, held together by screws--very nice construction smile.gif I've never used it to record anything on though...

Sounds good, I'd like to see a photo of that one. How about some photo's for the Gellery section of the forum?

I've got a bunch of "designer" discs that I'll take photo's of.

I remember some years back that Sony did that with a cassette tape (metal body and screws), part of a Millenium collection I think.

Sony have their 'Qualia' luxury brand (Check out this handcrafted, yes handcrafted, MD player: Product 017 at http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/QUALI...cts/index.html) it remains to be seen wether they will launch Hi-MD or discs under that banner.

Just thought you guys did like to know that there will be a new section under "Product Reviews/Pictorials" exclusively for MD Media very soon. I am in the process of setting up a huge collection of pictorials accordingly (including the infamous Sony MD2000) - so keep a look out. wink.gif

The MD2000's show up on eBay every once in a while.  Still go for about $25 plus shipping- each.

Really? Wow. I bought mine off eBay too. Only I bought 3 at a time. IIRC, when I sold the two that I did (and I still didn't charge as much as $25 I don't think) I ended up essentially netting the left over one for free smile.gif

If they are really screwed together, it would be cool (and simple) to convert one of these bad boys to HI-MD.
