Bananatree
1stly: The New (2nd Gen) cannot record SP, or Fake SP.2ndly: The older units cannot read HiMD discs. So you need to get a normal 60/74/80 minute disc and record using either a vintage player, or a 1st gen HiMD recorder. KrazyIvan
If I remember correctly he has a 600D so fake SP is possible.Since I do not use "fake" SP very often I will have to go home and actually go through the steps myself before I can write a detailed "how-to". If anyoone gets to it before I do please feel free to chime in. Edited September 2, 2005 by KrazyIvan

tommypeters
If your old MD unit has a line/optical in you could record in real-time without a computer and get "Real SP" - if not your car unit is MDLP only. It will take 80 minutes to record an 80 minute disc, but of course real SP sounds good while Fake SP/MDLP does not. Just connect to a line out/optical out of a suitable stereo equipment. For a NetMD portable (which you don't have) to record in the dreadful Fake SP mode it's pretty easy. Nothing better than LP can be sent to a NetMD, but that LP "data stream" will be converted to SP by the recording unit which is set to record in SP. Half the quality at full size, brilliant. The Low Volta
if you have a first gen HiMD (NH...)/older MD-model you can record real SP on a old type MDisc (60/4/80min) through line in, mic in or optical in -> connect any player (cd, PC,...) through the correct type of cable (3.5mm->3.5mm minijack or optical cable) into the correct port on the recorder and record with correct levelsif you have a second gen HiMD (RH...) or any other NetMD/HiMD you can record fake SP through SS onto a old type MDisc (60/74/80min) in MD mode (not HiMD mode) -> connect the HiMD and transfer the music using SShope this was clear enough...
