What kind of error messages are you getting from SonicStage? If it's a fixed-bitrate mp3, at 128, SonicStage will usually convert it. If it's variable bitrate (VBR), SonicStage sometimes chokes on it.

Dbpoweramp (from Downloads above) will convert all kinds of formats back and forth. If your current mp3s won't work with SonicStage, try converting them to fixed bitrate 192 kbps mp3s (or above) with dbpoweramp and then via Sonicstage.

mp3 at 128 kbps isn't the best sound to begin with. If you have the CDs, you should rip them directly to MD using Simple Burner. One conversion (.wav to ATRAC .oma) is better than two (CD to mp3 to ATRAC).

^^^

which would be totally correct A440... if he wanted to convert his uploaded recordings to wav, but he is looking for an MP3->wav converter

you could try dbpoweramp, it can convert a number of formats easily, but perhaps for MP3 there are better options

I just tested something out guys, and this may save a few steps.

I took a 128kbps mp3, imported into my library. Right-clicked on the file and chose to convert the format to ATRAC3 132kbps. After converting, I deleted the file from my library (but not from computer). I then imported the ATRAC3 file for the track located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\Optimized files.

After you convert the file (before deleting it), it still shows as mp3 in my library... Right-click on the file, choose properties, and go to the tab "file info" to see that there are in fact 2 versions of the file. mp3 & atrac3.

In other words, after you right-click the file and convert format, you have to delete the mp3 file from my library, and then import the atrac3 file in order to use it.

indeed  A440, you're too good for your own good! too helpful I mean, a simple question like "how does one decode to wave" just triggers your response even though you've actually answered it already... and then I go and answer it again :P
