sony all the way.. very decent buds for the price...

again, this is between a mx550 and ex81... there are tons of other options too..

cheers

but ex81 is 80 dolar in my city?

Panasonic RP-JE50... much more bass than the Senn's and cheaper than the Sony's (BTW, if you do get the Sony ones, do not get the white ones... why look like one of the ipuddle when you're not?)

panasonic lools like good and nice price!but in my country...i have only sony and sennheiser :(:(:(

I bought a pair of mdr-ex71 twon months ago. The sound is good (not very good), but the construction sucks, no kidding!. I can see the metal cables inside the rubber cover on the cable that goes from the left earphone to the right earphone. I have used the earphones only when walking and come on! only two months old! (i will ask for a refund)

Personally I find the MX500's more comfortable for longer listening than the RP-JE50.

well, they are very different:

- the senns are buds, sit right in front of the earhole but I think the MX series are quite big so they won't really fit and I need to use the foam covers to wedge them in my ears. Believe me, this is pretty uncomfortable for extended use and my girlfriend can't even get them in her ears

- the pana's are canal-phones, they are inserted in the first part of the ear hole. they come with three sets of rubber plugs so you can select the ones that provide the best seal without hurting... with the S-sized rubbers, I have very good seal and can wear these things for about 5 hours straight without noticing they are there (even though I must say that the first time you use canal-phones it is a strange thing and something that you need to get used to)

I wouldn't say either are very bassy.

granted, but there still is a big difference between the senns and the panas IMHO... the senns are pretty bass-less without equalizing, while the pana's aren't really bassy... hope this explains my view (I do tend to eq the senns a lot more than he pana's)

I'd vote for the MX550 (if there was a poll) - I just love the crisp clean sound from them, and the volume control is a handy bonus. The diameter of these is actually smaller then the previous generation (MX500), so there shouldnt be any problems with comfort.

Having said that, I'm giving my EX71SL a workout right now, and they're doing very nicely thank you. So, maybe if your budget extends to it, go for the EX81 as well. It's always good to have a variety of headphone options at your disposal..
