Breepee2
My dear fellow Europeans, I have a few question before I might purchase one of these. Please answer only if you are 100% certain (for example when you own such a unit). The RH10 appears to have a remote included. What about the RH910?Does the devices play MP3's with bitrates lower than 32kbit?Is there background noise/static on these units (like a soft ffffffffff)? Perhaps only when you turn up the volume, or is it just absent?I currently own a Sharp MD MT190, how much lower (after 'hacking') are the maximum volumes of these devices? Thanks in advance! Qwakrz
Remote: Pass, have the RH10 with standard c****y remote, never used it & is still in wrapper.MP3's <32K: NO , 44.1KHz 32-320K VBR / CBR. High Freq capped by unit thoughHiss: On my RH10 compaired to my NH1, Hiss is present but seems to vary, might be headphone impedance related.Volume Level : PASS, RH10 is loud enough for me with in ear earphones. KJ_Palmer
The european RH910 comes with a white non-LCD remote control, which is nice, if you like that sort of thing...The RH910 can be hacked to give the full 5mW x 2 output, and indeed should be. I use 16ohm earbuds and dont have a problem with levels.
Breepee2
A remote is better than no remote. I mainly need it to adjust volume and skip tracks when on the move. Thanks for the answers by the way. Another question: does it support mono MP3 files? KJ_Palmer
I'm not sure about that, though I don't see why not. If you have a small mono file I'd be happy to try it out later on (unless someone else can answer that)...
Breepee2
Here's a small sample. Thanks for testing!test.mp3 Edited October 18, 2005 by Breepee2
Richard
Here's a small sample. Thanks for testing! They have some RH910's in the local Media Markt here in Den Haag, but frankly the prices are a rip-off - something like 249 EUR or higher if I remember correctly. Breepee2
I've found a website in .de which sells the RH910 for €185, and the RH10 for €219. I don't think I'll be paying €34 for an OLED though...But I must know if it supports mono MP3 (I'm planning on backing up audiobooks, and with mono some very long books would fit nicely). So if with a 2nd gen unit could test the .mp3 I uploaded 2 posts up: thank you very much!

The only thing is that the RH910 looks a bit strange with all that white plastic round the edge and the white jog wheel in the middle of a black face. Breepee2
That's why I'll probably be getting to silver one, IF someone can upload that MP3
Richard
That's why I'll probably be getting to silver one, IF someone can upload that MP3 I can try it on my DH10P if you want - the manual for the RH910 has the same specs. for MP3 playback as the DH10P. KJ_Palmer
OK, it's already done, but ditto for the RH910...God, though it sounds rough at that resolution (not just on the RH910), I couldnt listen to that for long, even if it is only speech.. Breepee2
I've noticed that an increase to 48kbit is about the sweetspot of quality and quantity for audiobooks. With MP3 mono, one can fit twice as much as with Atrac 3+ 48kbit though. BUt the point was to find out if mono was supported and thank God it is By the way, that website I was going to buy a device says teh RH910 does not come with a remote (I asked via mail). Their website mentions no AA cartrigde either... How 'bout that...
Poodle
My Euro 910 came with the white remote controller and AA battery case attachment. The remote is fairly useless (pretty white, but non-LCD), but the battery case is a must have, and should be supplied with any RH910, not as an 'optional extra'..
