Syrius
Sorry. Your question is a bit cryptic. Please explain a bit what you intend to do. What's a "dex"?

greenmachine
Look out for HiMD units with a line/optical input. Aviod 'D' models (downloaders, only usb connection). If you transfer optically, you'll need an application called 'himdrenderer' to convert into a usable format after uploading, available in the downloads section. m_fergy
could you list some hi-md that would be perfect for me ?thx alot
greenmachine
No particular order:MZ-RH10, RH910, RH710 (no mic-in), NH1, NH900, NHF800, NH700, NH600 (without 'D', no mic-in)See also the equipment browser:http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.htmlYou could also consider to skip the HiMD step in between and copy directly to the 'puter:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070

m_fergy
*EDIT*Quick question if i record through the digital output will i be able to put them recordings off my hi-md on to my computer ?thx Edited October 24, 2005 by m_fergy
greenmachine
Yes, but you'll need himdrenderer to convert it into a usable format. Sonicstage doesn't let you convert digital recordings.

skierMD
If you just want to record vinyl mixes to HIMD....I just run a stereo mini-plug from one of my outputs on my Vestax PMC-05 straight into my Hi-MD.Hit record (PCM), and then upload the file through Sonicstage 3.2, or Wav converter. If its over 70 minutes (or so) Sonicstage splits up the WAV file, so I just use Soundforge to merge the tracks. Then I edit in Soundforge and then save as mp3/etc.
A440
If the point is just to get the recordings from vinyl to computer, you don't need the MD at all. Just use a recording program like Audacity (in Downloads) and record in real time into your computer via Line-in. Don't have a line-in jack on your computer? Then get a Griffin iMic or an M-Audio Transit, for line-in connection via USB. The Transit has optical in. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main.htmlIf you also want to make MD's, it's still probably quicker to record to computer and then download to MD.
