lamewing
I just transfered a track in 352kbps to my NH900 via Sonicstage 3.3. Did this as well this afternoon. I am still confused by the various bit rates for the lossless recordings, especially with the conversion to 352kbps when transferring to the HiMD. Any clues why there are multiple bit rates for lossless?
Syrius
No. I think that what SS is doing, is create a lossless file so you don't have to keep your wavs on the library, AND a Hi-MD compatible file so you can transfer without having to convert every single time. Also, the lossless file might be used for future Hi-MD or Atrac devices.

WaywardTraveller
I know someone gave a stat of 100 minutes for 352kbps on an 80 min MD; anyone care to tell us how much 352kbps recording time we get on a 1GB Hi-MD disc?? peaceWaywardTraveller

Someone will actually have to try it though to check, I have gone on capacity of the media.BTW is it my imagination or does Hi-LP 64K sound better with the new version of SS. I listened to a recording in PCM, Hi-SP 352 and Hi-LP 64. I am finding it very difficult to tell the difference between them all now, it was easier before. MDGB2
On reboot after installing, a nice screen appeared (but not the dreaded blue one...) that said "Opperating system has detected a fatal error."Nice. Although another re-boot, and starting up SS3.3 to let it configure itself and all seems well. Computers eh?
Alexx
This mite sound silly but- If you have an ATRAC3+ file that is at 352kbp then will an MD player (such as said RH10 ) work with it. Or does it have to be converted to a diffrent bitre rate- say 48Kbps Also I thought old ATRAC (TRUE SP, or 292kbs) was classed as lossless? Was I wrong? ( probally)Thanks u guys x

( probally)Thanks u guys xYes 352Kbps ATRAC is supported on the RH10 (as I sit here and listen to it). There is no way to encode from a disc straight to the format though, you either have to go lossless encoding or PCM and then convert.True SP is lossy. All previous ATRAC codecs appart from AAL are lossy.
Breepee2
Does is sound better than good ol SP?
Syrius
As long as it sounds just as fine, I'm happy. I was really happy with HI-Sp, so this is more icing on the cake.
tommypeters
For me, usually Hi-SP sounds better than SP even though the bitrate is lower.

p4cman
Yes it does, As i have an UK unit and it works fine. I've found that the 132kbps convertion is enough for music downloaded off the internet (reffering to legal downloads, such as demo releases and other music featured on sites like download.com). But when copying an orignal CD to MD I can clearly hear the difference from the CD. This is why the feature sounds like good news to me.It would be great if anyone can confirm the compatibility to the NH600 player. Killroy
It would be great if anyone can confirm the compatibility to the NH600 player.Hello,I've tried yesterday and yes, it works on my NH600. But I have to admit that I can hardly hear any difference to Hi-SP@256k - but this is probably because I'm already in the fourties+ :-)Just too bad, that the device cannot record at this bitrate too :-(Cheers - Killroy.
