Phoenix
Hi,I have a question concerning the remote RM-MC38EL which is described as "supplied w/ MZ-NH900 (NA). Same features as the 33EL, with the additionto a Hi-MD input on the LCD."*The MC38EL is 100% compatible with all 1st and 2nd generation HiMD units.Could someone pls. explain what is meant by "with the additionto a Hi-MD input on the LCD"? I am wondering whether it is possible to settracks with this remote? Thanks.Phoenix
rei-gouki
Not exactly sure myself. Prolly means the little display of "Hi-MD" to indicate the recorder is operating in Hi-MD mode.I have a NH900 and I modify track names fine on the 38EL. It's just not as easy as using the stick on the main body of the NH900. I haven't set groups via the remote yet, but it's prolly no more difficult than setting it on an N707. Check out the abilities by downloading the NH900's Ops Manual. Other than that, if you're wondering about that Hi-MD thing, then would you get the 35ELK? Phoenix
Hi Rei, thanks for your reply.I just received my new 38EL and am a little disappointed that it has no dedicated buttonto set a track mark. The remote control of my former MD-Player had that and I thought, I had read somewhere in the internet that this remote control had this also. I can't find the place where I read this anymore so I guess it was wishfull thinking on my part. I also checked the online manual of NH900 and compared it to my possibilites. I have a RH910 and a RH10. With both I can only use the remote to release or set groups and erase tracks or groups. Nothing else. No titling possible. But I really only wanted to beable to make a track mark without having to nestle the unit out of its pouch. That doesn'tseem to be possible?I already had a MC33L. I wonder if there is any other difference between the two remotecontrols besides the backlight on the 38EL (which will no doubt come in handy).Oh, I don'tsee any indication of "Hi-MD" on the display either. But at least I found out this way thatso far I hadn't been using all the possibilities the MC33L had to offer. So I lost some andwon some ;-)Phoenix
bland10000
With the 38 you can set a--b marks to listen to that section over and over. Click on the playmode button a couple of times and an "A" will appear, let it play until you want to mark a section as finished and click the toggle switch, which sets "B". It is useful for listening to dialogue...
A440
On the RM-MC40ELK remote, pushing the P-Mode button sets a track mark during recording. Have you tried all the buttons on the RM-MC38EL ? Maybe there's one with a dual function.
bland10000
the 33, 35, and 38 set track marks with the p-mode when recording but not afterwards. Edited December 5, 2005 by bland10000

bland10000
the famous 'language mode' - does it get much use amongst the english teaching community bland? No. It is easier to set a trackmarks that can be erased later than it is to set up the a-b marks. Setting trackmarks requires one push of a button while a-b requires four pushes between two different buttons.
Phoenix
Good morning! Thanks for the tip concerning the "language mode".I will try that out. That might be useful to listento the radio programs I recorded. It is somethingalong the line I was looking for. Because sometimesI like to switch discs inbetween and then I have tosearch where I broke off when I switch back. That'swhy I wanted to be able to set a track mark.By the way, I have tried the the 38EL with my NH600and all functions of the remote are available liketitling, erasing and so on. So my NH600 may come invery handy again ;-)Thanks again.Phoenix
