NH1 edit function missing from menu

I just bought an NH1 from a shop in California. I've tried everything I can think of but I can't seem to access the edit function from the unit itself. I can get it from the remote. Anyone know about this?

Also, I paid $260.00. Is it still possible to find a new one cheaper?

Thanks!

I think you need to make sure menu settings are at advanced. To do this, go to Options => Menu Mode => Advanced. Be aware though that even with this enabled not all edit functions are available on the unit, only via the remote. See manual p. 29-31

That's what's been driving me buggy! I did the same things you suggested and still can't get the unit to cough up the edit function. Perhaps the fact that the sticker says New Zealand has something to do with it? According to the manual though, that shouldn't matter. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I think I'll throw the whole thing back and get an m10. It would be nice to be able to use it with my G5. (My laptop is super finnicky and I use linux software which is sometimes a challenge).

Any warnings on the M10?

If I remeber right when you get to the menu option page on the unit you have to hold the menu button fortwo or three seconds to bring up the advanced option.

I also belive if you set it through the remote it stays changed on the unit.

Have fun, and let us know if you get the M10 and what you think of it.

Hi again,

Just tried on mu unit, press the menu button, use the joystick to toggle through the menu to get to what you need, then long hold to get you into the menu, and again use the joystick to toggle your values.

On my NH1 if it is in simple mode, I just press (on the unit) Menu => Option (using joystick) press once, menu Mode, press once, switch to Advanced.

Or on the remote, hold Navi/Menu, scroll to Option, Scroll to Menu Mode, scroll to Advanced, press Navi-Menu once again to save (doesn't need to be a long press).

Thanks. I didn't have any problem geting into the advanced menu. My problem is there is no edit option once I'm there. Truly bizarre. I am dealing with the shop about it. I'll let you know if they come up with an answer.

Without meaing to sound rude, have you actually read the manual which presumably came with the NH1? You will find that the only Edit function that can be carried out on the recorder is Formatting a Hi-MD disc. All other editing has to be done via the remote.

This is all laid out in pages 29 - 31 of the European edition. It has nothing to do with being in advanced or simple menu mode.
