Recording DVD Commentaries on MD

I've tried... and failed!

Anyone done it?

I just get the din unlock error when I hit record (connected with an optic cable)

Does it work if I change the output on my dvd player to PCM?

Change it to PCM indeed! Probably your DVD-player outputs Dolby Digital or some other multichannel-format over the optical line which cannot be interpreted by the MD. Just change the optical output to 2-channel (=stereo). This is indeed somtimes called PCM.

The audio may also be encoded with a anti-copy protection, so you may want to try analog connection.

you wont be able to get rid of the no copy message thing without going analogue. Unless of course you are up to ripping the dvd to an audio cd or re-ripping the dvd to a new dvd which gets rid of copy protection.

thanks for the replies guys... tried every conceivable audio out option on the dvd player.. as GTR says, I still get the cannot copy, just used 'ol analogue instead...
