raintheory
Hi all, I downloaded SonicStage 3.4 just fine, and after installing went to the registry (as I have with all previous versions) to change the connect store link so it would link to the forums here instead. To do this I went to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\EMD\HomeURL\0 And changed the following entries: MenuTitle - Changed to "MiniDisc Community Forums". Title - Also changed to "MiniDisc Community Forums". Url - Changed to "http://forums.minidisc.org" In the past after I had done this, it successfully changed the connect store to the forums here, which I liked. I've tried it with this version and now after the forums start loading on the page, it gets redirected to a page with the Connect logo that states "Please connect to the internet to access the CONNECT online music service". I have located this connect error page on my local computer here: "C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage\Data\EMD\Default\weberr.html". And I have even tried renaming it, but then the page just comes up "Cannot be displayed"... Does anyone happen to have any suggestions on this one? I know that SonicStage uses IE, so I have checked most of the settings in IE to be sure nothing was funny in there, and couldnt find anything. Any suggestions are welcome... The Low Volta
well, the method raintheory explained actually works in SS3.4 (for me at least as you can see here) I guess it's some strange issue on his PC that prevents this from working for him
brian10161
oh, i think im going to have to download ss3.4 then. ill try it on mine and see if it works later on, im on my laptop right now and its slow, so ill try it on my desktop when i get a chance (just feeling lazy right now) -brian
The Low Volta
just a thought raintheory... perhaps your 'title'/'menu title' is a bit too long... I only used "MDCF" (you know the original button is only "connect" so "MiniDisc Community Forums" might be a tad long...or the spaces aren't accepted?? just guessing though)for the rest my registry settings are the same ...except I added a slash after the URL ("http://forums.minidisc.org/")
raintheory
I tried switching them to MDCF and adding the / slash after http://forums.minidisc.org, and still get the error screen...hmm...I've even tried turning off my firewall completely just to check, and I still get the message.I also reset web settings in IE, but still the message.... Thanks for the heads up on the hack. Now I can attempt to upload music while checking forums.LOL, can you change it to go to your favorite legal download site, say....hmmmm, Itunes for instance? mrsoul
Any luck with this problem. I still see the MDCF for about 3 seconds and then the error message!
raintheory
Any luck with this problem. I still see the MDCF for about 3 seconds and then the error message!I've had no luck yet with this myself... So far I've tried a few different things (some of which were mentioned in this thread), and I'm completely sure that my firewall isn't blocking the program... I even found the actual html error page on my system and renamed it, but just got a page cannot be displayed error instead.Still it is very odd that it starts to load the forums and then redirects somehow to that error screen... Christopher
I don't think you can upload and switch over to Connect store, last time I tried that I thought it wouldn't let me..
brian10161
try making the error page a redirecting html file. maybe that will work?

Thanks for keeping this issue updated.
raintheory
kool, i hope it works.Well the redirect script in the weberr.html file isn't working. Also tried just putting a link on that error page to the forums, but that didn't work either....
brian10161
hmm... what about trying a different website?
raintheory
hmm... what about trying a different website?Tried that too. Regardless of what site it is, it starts loading and then automatically redirects to the error page (or in the case of what I had done with a redirect script, back and forth ). raintheory
For those of you who have been unable to get this to work (including me ) Try this out:in regedit, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\EMD\HomeURL\0instead of changing the "url" value to "http://www.forums.minidisc.org", try "http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?"Seems to have worked for me. Also before I opened sonicstage to try it, i opened internet explorer and signed into the forums with the "remember me" option on.
