MillerP
Hello,I would like to buy a small, single point mic to make field recordings with my MD. I have been looking at some of the Sound Professionals mics (the SP-TFB-2 or SP-SPSM-3), but I live in northern Japan, and it seems like if I order from their website I will pay almost as much in shipping (US $55) as I will for the mic. Does anyone know of any Japan-based online retailers? It's not crucial that they have the sound professional mics as long as I can get something comparable in size/quality.Thanks,Miller Peterson
bland10000
I recommend using kakaku.com for comparing prices online for Japanese retailers. I've already checked and their search doesn't have any soundpro products show up but if you check out Yodobashi.com, biccamera.com, ishimaru.co.jp among others you will find an assortment of mics to select from. Then enter the product number into kakaku to find the least expensive product + shipping within Japan.
greenmachine
Hello, i build 'binaural' microphones much similar to the style of Sound Pro's SP-BMC-2 myself. Since left and right channel can be separated, they're much more flexible and will have an advantage in sound quality for realistic field recordings compared to single point microphones. I will ship within europe for EUR 2,40 (~USD 2.86) and worldwide for EUR 3,50 (~USD 4.18).To evaluate their sound quality, you can find a large variety of sample recordings here and here. You can take a look at this thread and this site to see how they're made and look like. You (and others) are welcome to send me a personal message if interested.
