Hi-MD player with great battery life wanted

Hi currently got a mz-ne410 net md player i got from the states but i'm, entranced by the high capacity hi-md discs and players...

Basically I want a hi-md player with the longest battery life at the lowest recording quality (lp4 or whatever), I'm no audiophile. USB port to connect to my computer and that's it, any other features are superfluous to me (and probably the less the better, just eat my battery life up)

I've looked at the rh-10 and rh-910 and they both seem to clock in at 30 hours, though the official sony specs seem to conflict with the specs on this site...-->

Sony Comparison of rh-10 and rh-910

are there any other hi-md models that can beat these for battery life?

oh, and any recommendations for where i can get them online and is trustworthy (im based in the uk)? Amazon.co.uk just seems to have 2nd hand models now...

ta for any help

Hi, thanks for the reply, I was trawling the manuals for the hi-md units on this site and found out the battery life for the models I listed depend on having the internal battery plus an aa battery in an "add-on" to the player. :(

The earlier hi-md models seem to meet my requirements better, the mz-nh series gives 25-27 hours just on an aa battery (which sounds good till i remember my current unit gives 50 hours+). The more advanced the model the poorer the battery life. bah. Also discovered a more powerful aa battery might give a bit more life. Guess i just need to trawl a bit more.

For the longest ife use an RH10/RH910 with both batteries. Failing that there are the AA only models which include the RH710 from the 2nd generation. The RH10 is available in the UK from Discount Discs, probably the finest e-tailer I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

Ta, managed to get myself a mz-nh700, think it's the best compromise I could arrive at, 27 hrs on 1 aa battery for bog-standard playing, and an ac adaptor i'll use when recording. Plus it has a microphone input so I can pretend it'll be useful at work.

Had to get it 'newly second-hand' off amazon as stores don't seem to stock them, discontinued line...

Don't use AC for recording. It will add a buzz. Just use a new Duracell or Duracell Ultra and you'll have nothing to worry about.

You could also try high-capacity rechargeables--not the dinky one that may come with the NH700.

I've been using rechargeable Powerizer batteries (pale blue, from Ebay) rated at 2300 MaH--I think a (non-rechargeable) Duracell Ultra is 2700--and doing fine. Rechargeable Energizers that are supposed to be 2500 MaH are disappointing--they run out faster.
