NW-A1000 firmware question

Hi, I recently bought a NW-A1000, and i must say, it is an amazing piece of hardware - once you install sonicstage 3.3 to manage it that is. anyway, i noticed that a firmware update is available for the player, version 2.01. i have 1.00. after installing connect player, im redirected to css.app.sony.com after selecting oceania as my region. The website hasent even heard of the nw-a1000, let alone provides firmware upgrades for it. So im just wondering, is it possible to use the european/american equivalent without too much fuss? or do they vary?

also, is SP Set meant to be ON or OFF in the test mode for the sound hack?

SP needs to be set to off and it does not matter where you get your firmware from. the A-Pac site is terrible, just use the sonydigital-link page.

Or there's a direct link to the 2.01 firmware on the site somewhere.

The link to the firmware update is pinned (2nd from top) of the Harddrive forum. Make sure you read the instructions there too and also in the manual . I think I used the european version for the NWA1000 which installed smoothly.

The A-PAC site has this strange reference to the NWA1000:

"Where to obtain the information of the latest firmware?

Applicable Models NW-A1000, NW-A3000

Perhaps this feature will be implemented in a future update for ConnectPlayer !

i noticed that too... and wondered if it ran like automatic updates on any other program. but this feature dosent seem to have been added yet. i think sony has big plans for connect, at least i hope they do.

I believe the above reference meant the CONNECT Player Auto Update feature - software and firmware updates are available thru this feature only if you install CONNECT Player via the bundled CD-ROM.

...as i did Ishiyoshi. The CONNECT Player Auto Update Feature appears to only update software, not firmware, at this stage.

Actually my firmware update keeps popping up now everytime i reboot, since it doesn't know I installed it already.

May need to do the update to the a1000 in order to make it stop telling me to update my firmware.

...as i did Ishiyoshi. The CONNECT Player Auto Update Feature appears to only update software, not firmware, at this stage.

Firmware update via Auto update works with my NW-A608SI. Perhaps, the firmware update notification pops up at random interval. I am pretty sure you will soon encounter the notification.
