I bought one of these battery adapters on ebay, that works with both the HD5 and Vaio Pocket. This site's great btw, they seems to make an adapter for almost

anything. This ones uses 4 AA's, trouble is you'll have to use the Pocket's cradle, making it even less 'pocketable', but you might not mind that.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, unlike me, I'm sure you could knock yourself up something like it for less, though this one is well made and has a handy on/off switch and velcro attach pad....

I looked at the Ebay auction for a second, and was very disappointed about how I still need the cradle...

I mean, from the looks of it, It almost looked like they made a cable so you wouldnt need the cradle, ya know?

Kinda sutpid how the VAIO doesn't charge from USB either...

Yeah it is no use on the HD1 or HD3 either really. On the HD1 you need the cradle; on the HD3 you need the gHey a$$ "mini dock" connector thing (BCA-NWHD3), which is a POS.

Since Sony only "did it right" on the HD5 with the regular USB and power connectors on the unit, I'd say the HD5 is the only unit worth using something like this on...
