Which method of transfer to Hi-MD is better?

As far as I know, there are three ways to transfer CD music to Hi-MD:

1.) MD Simple Burner

2.) Import CD using ATRAC3plus and then transfering to Hi-MD with SS 3.4

3.) Import CD as WAV file, converting to ATRAC3plus and then transfering to Hi-MD with SS 3.4

Assuming I'm using 256kbps for all 3 methods, which one will yield better sound quality? I'm guessing the 2nd method would be better, because it has the "high" setting to choose from. The other methods don't. Any suggestions or comments would be helpfull.

There is also a 4th method being recording via optical in. ;)

The "High" option is only really to reduce the possibilty of disc read errors - hence it takes a little longer. It doesn't actually offer any increase in quality per se.

Some have speculated that the encoding process may be more evolved and thus more reliable in later versions of Sonic Stage whereas Simple Burner hasn't really had any updates done for it since it came out (except for the one that introduced the PCM option).

Personally I use your "Option 2" either at 256K or 352k mostly.

Both SS and Simple Burner use the same modules. So even though Simple Burner software hasn't been updated, it's codecs have been updated. And if the "high" recording option only reduces disc errors, then SB and SS should offer the same Hi-SP quality.
