Kyosei
Hi, I've ordered a NH700, looking forward to getting it in a couple of day's time. I've been doing my homework and decided to buy a Hi-MD because of its cheapness (250-300AU for a 2gb iPod nano? ridiculous!) and removeable storage capability, also to a certain extent because it's not as annoyingly ubiquitous as the iPods and Zens.Anyhow! I'm a bit worried if will happen to my sizeable MP3 collection if I import it into SS 3.4. After reading lots and lots of war stories about lost IP, mysterious errors and f*ckups that Sony customer service refuse to address effectively - let's just say I've been wondering if it was worth investing in a Sony Hi-MD.Will my collection be DRM'd or otherwise taken out of my 100% control?Someone put my fears to rest. Please? P.S: Apologies if this has been addressed in another thread - I have tried to look for a relevant topic and didn't find one.
danielbb90
You're MP3 collection won't be DRM'd only atrac files on your Hi-MD player and you computer.DRM was removed from Hi-MD with SonicStage 3.4 so I woulden't worry about DRM anymore...http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11889 <- Offline installerhttp://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586 <- Web Installer(Recommended unless you don't have an internet connection) Edited April 20, 2006 by danielbb90
cthulu
I have been using SS 3.4 for a bit and it is really easy to use. You can even set it to delete the ATRAC files it creates (conversions of your MP3s) after transfer to your Hi-MD so no more giant ATRAC collections. In short, SS dosen't touch your mp3 files or edit them in anyway, it just adds their info to its own database. cthulu
It adds tags without asking.I thought that it only edited tags if you "Get CD info" from Gracenote, which if you maintain your own tags shouldn't be a problem.Greenmachine: Does it edit tags under any other circumstances? I would be interested to know if it intereferes with tags when you add tracks to the SS library.Cheers for any help you can provide.
