Battery dead after no use.

G'day,

I have just got myself an MZ-NH700 a few months ago. I think there is a problem with it but am unsure. It seems to drain the battery, even when it is off. I have turned quick mode off, but it still seems to drain realy fast. If I use a fully charged battery in the morning for the 30 minute journey to work, it will be half flat by the evening and completely dead by morning. All this for less than an an hour of listening. I always put it on hold on the remote and unit itself, and can't quite work it out. I can't work out if there is something else I need to do to turn it off? This never happened with my other MD.

Occasionaly if i have it out in a quiet room I can hear a quiet click coming from inside every 30-60 seconds. It sounds like a motor spinning up for a split second or the laser refocusing. It does this with the door open or closed, with and without a disc in the player. I can't figure it out. I assume its not meant to do this? Has anybody else had this problem? Is it an easy fix, am I doing soemthing wrong, or should I get in touch with Sony and try to get a replacement?

My problem is that I bought it in Aus and am now in the UK. I still have recipts at my house in Aus though.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris

you assume right. No sounds should be coming out of it at all without a disc inside, or with the door open.
