rocklegend
Hi guys....I was wondering if someone here can help me.I'm at my wits end here with Sonicstage.I first had SS 3.4 but decided to change to SS CP 4.0 and here where my problem started.I installed SS 4.0 and noticed that it wouldn't play certain mp3 files like one in every 10 tracks so I decided to Uninstall SS 4.0 and go back to V3.4....I uninstalled everything and reinstalled V 3.4.....Now SS V3.4 or V4.0 will not play any of mp3 files even when ripped by Sonicstage itself....only Atrac and my NH1....The problem is that my music is in mp3....also when I was installing both SS 3.4 and 4.0 when I went to import my music files I get an error saying that it doesn't regconise the format yet before I changed anything it played mp3 files no problems yet now it won't....I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything about a 100 times and it's really starting to Piss me off....so much that I nearly bought an iPod yesterday......Why can't Sony just create troublesome software....oh and before someone says Reformat your hard drive I'm not going to do that.....Please I hope that ye can help me and save me from this torment...............Thanks.................... The Low Volta
SS is known to ignore MP3's with ID-tags that aren't constructed exactly following the standards (Winamp is known to do this)... but it would seem strange previous versions of SS did play nice with them thoughperhaps you could try retagging a few with iEatBrainz or something that tagges nice and try again...otherwise, just give as much (system and contextual) info as possible (as explained in the rules for posting in the software support subforums) and you need to realize that this is a forum and not a live-chat, so it might take a while for ppl to read and answer to your threadplease also try to search through the software supp. section as there have been lots of troubles with MP3's and perhaps you might find a solution in one of the older threads
rocklegend
It´s funny that you mention Winamp....This really all started when I installed winamp ver 5.22.Since then I´ve had all sorts of problems....but the thing that confusses me is that I have the same problem when I rip mp3´s using Sonicstage that has no IDtags from Winamp...I´ll try to be a little but more patiant as I do realise that it´s a forum and not a live chat....it´s just that this has been wrecking my head for the last 2 weeks....To be honest this problem also satrted when I uninstalled ver 4.0 and reinstalled Ver 3.4....Sonicstage was playing mp3´s when I had winamp installed......I have checked other and older Threads but others haven´t had this particular problem.....Thanks for your help..... A440
If none of your mp3s is playing, my guess--only a guess--would be that something messed up the codec that plays them back. Go to Settings/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Hardware (tab)/Audio Codecs/Properties. Can you figure out what codec is actually playing your mp3s? Highlight it, click Properties, temporarily disable it (check "Do Not Use This Audio Codec"). Then try playing the mp3 with Windows Media Player, which will search for a usable codec online, presumably a good one. Also: Experiment a little. Find one mp3 that won't play, make a copy of it, and try some things with the copy, like:See if it will play in other programs like Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. Retag it with something other than Winamp. Delete the v2 tag and switch to a v1 tag. Rip it again with dbpoweramp (from Downloads if you don't have it) and see if the newly ripped version plays. Let us know the results. rocklegend
Can you figure out what codec is actually playing your mp3s?How do I find out what Codec is being used.I disabled all the Codecs that was in Sound And Audio Devices. After diabling the codecs I played some tracks in WMP no problems but it didn´t look for codecs but Sonicstage is still refusing to play MP3´s.Should I delete all the Codecs on my PC......I don´t think it´s the ID Tags because even when I rip Mp3´s using Sonicstage it refuses to play. The thing that confuses me is that when I import an MP3 File I check the properies of the file and it saus for example....9,7mb but when I transfer the same file to my HiMD or HD5 it says that the file is 2004mb even though it´s trsnfered at thesame conversion rate of 192...... A440
Don't delete codecs. Let's get this straight. You can play back mp3 with Winamp and Windows Media Player? So they're finding the correct codec and SonicStage is not. Another experiment: Open My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Click on Extensions and look for Mp3. Next to it is the default program to play back mp3s. What program is it? Winamp? Windows MP? SonicStage? Just out of curiosity, try uninstalling Winamp and then reinstalling SonicStage again, without Winamp reinstalled.
rocklegend
Well the good news is that I found out what was causing Sonicstage not to import or play mp3 files and that was because I didn´t have a Fraunhofer IIS Codec on my PC...This is needed for Sonicstage to play mp3´s.Now there is just one more problem....I have my entire mp3 library imported into Sonicstage and Sonicstage will play 95 percent of my files...the other 5 percent when I play those mp3 files I get noting but Noise....like the file is scrambled....To answer you question the MP3 default program is Winamp.... rocklegend
Well for some reason the problem has come back.....When I tried to import my mp3 library I get an error saying that sonicstage cannot import files that are not registered to sonicstage.....Anyone know what this means...... A440
It sounds like Soundstage has forgotten again that it knows what mp3s are. Do you have this same problem after a reboot? Install that codec again if you do.
Stuge
this quite strange but many people are having the same problem ..http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1840&hl=
rocklegend
It sounds like Soundstage has forgotten again that it knows what mp3s are. Do you have this same problem after a reboot? Install that codec again if you doYes I´ve had this problem for a while....I´ve uninstalled and re-installed Sonicstage many many times....I´ve even uninstalled other music playing software such as Winamp and still the same.....Again Sonicstage doesn´t reconise my mp3´s only Atrac and Wav Files.....That Codec is installed on my PC.....Sonicstage was working no problems and then when I turned of my PC to go to bed the next day the problem returned.....This problem is really getting on my nerves..... A440
Once again I'm guessing here, but what files does the Fraunhofer codec actually install? And where do they go? How about making copies of those installed files (probably .dll or .ax files) and putting copies into the same directory as omgjbox.exe ?
