delusive1
I have a mz rh910 mini disc. Attached a Shure Laviler mic on the plug in power. I cannot seem to adjust the microphone sensitivity as stated in the manual. It works great in picking up dialogue when the mic is placed on the speaker. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?? Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong??I don't have the rh910, but from my very limited experience recording with the RH10, I'm wondering whether you have selected manual or automatic recording level. If you have chosen manual, then you won't be able to change the sensitivity options; they only work with the automatic setting. raintheory
With Manual recording set you are still able to set the sensitivity to High or Low, just not Standard or LoudMusic.EDIT: Be sure you start the unit in REC-PAUSE first, then go into the Menu/Rec Settings and you should see Mic Sensitivity in there, also you can change rec levels to manual under rec-volume. (I'm going by memory here, my girlfriend has my RH10 at the moment,.) Edited June 15, 2006 by raintheory
delusive1
I am not able to find it under menu/record settings/. Under those tabs I would only get PCM Hi SP Hi LP. No mic selection. Is it because I am using a laviler mic that it won't let me change any mic settings??
raintheory
Go to "Option" and set "Menu Mode" to "Advanced" and see if you can see that option after doing so.

bisebaer
Just a question: I'm using a Rode NT4 to record fair and barrel organs (indeed!). I'm using manual record levels, but should I set my mic sensitivity to "low" or "high". I'd guess high, since the volume of these instruments is rather loud, but on the other hand, they can sound 'quiet' too, depending on the music ...OK, I know: I could try it out, but I'd like some expert's opinion on this
greenmachine
There's no general rule, but "high" is for rather quiet sounds, while "low" is for the louder ones, not the other way around. My own microphones are rather sensitive, so i have no need for the high setting at all. The NT4 may be different.

srizvi1
I wonder if this advice will apply to the MZ-RH1. I've been recording with it a few times now mainly to record stand up (check out this thread that I'm mainly a part of: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=15910 ) and was hoping to do some recording level adjustment as I noticed the volume sounds low.
