himd_anxiety
I recently read a post in which someone claimed to buy a the FM radio remote to work with the NH700, but I was under the impression that the remote input on that unit was the standard Sony one and that it came with a regular remote. If the radio remote fits with the NH700, then what differentiates it from the NHF800? It seems utterly pointless for Sony to have had both. Is this actually true? A440
I have both units. The remote from the NHF800 definitely works with the NH700. Why would Sony do that? Maybe it was easier to manufacture one unit and just repackage it with a different remote and a new model number.
KJ_Palmer
Indeed, the remote from the NH800 works with the NH700, at least in the UK/Euro model. I now have 2 Hi-MD's with tuners as I acquired a 'spare' radio remote on ebay. Sony really could have marketed this 'feature' better... himd_anxiety
I can't believe Sony did something this asinine. They should have just packaged them all with the radio remotes. They look exactly the same anyway.

But, then they wouldn't be making this much money (check here: http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Audio+P...ner_remote.html ) by selling the radio remotes to NH700 owners. himd_anxiety
Touche, Jaylen. And it gets clearer. lol It's funny as hell to me, because I have a spare remote of just that type. I should sell it. Who would buy the NH700 and then buy a remote that cost just as much? SMH.
jaylen
lol Yeah, seriously. And, when you read the 2 reviews on that Audiocubes site by Justin and Mohammad, it almost makes you wonder if they're bogus or they really bought it at that US$229 price. Their NF610 and NF810 cost less than that.
himd_anxiety
DITTO @ BOGUS?! LOL! I was like, "Is this for real?" That price is an utter joke. For that price, it better be a 6 Gig ATRAC player that small, in that shape, and with the FM/AM tuner. Did I mention the ability to record and a long battery life? lol
Syrius
WTF? Everybody else said that the remote wouldn't fit the jack, and therefore won't even power up the radio. So you can turn your NH700 into an NHF800 with just the addition of the remote? With full functionality?
himd_anxiety
Dear, for $229 a remote, you should be able to turn the NH700 into a car if you wanted.

So you can turn your NH700 into an NHF800 with just the addition of the remote? With full functionality? Kind of old news, but you sure can. Just with the NH700/NHF800 (and other older MD units that are radio-capable), not other Hi-MD units. This is where it seemed to have all started: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14897&hl=doomlordis was the first to confirm that both the 37LT and 39LT remotes work with the NH700, full radio function included. rogerhacker
It definitely works. I bought a MC37LT remote for my NH700 about a month back. I got it off Ebay (from China) for 10 GB pounds. Arrived within a week and offers full functionality, although you need to find a manual for a different MD that uses this remote (NF810) to get the instructions. BobS
You all seem to be very harsh on Sony for something that seems quite obvious. They simply sold a unit without the Radio Remote at a lower cost. Most people do not choose to buy MDs with the tuner remote. You could buy it with (the 800 model) or without (the 700 model). Does not seem "stupid" or a way for Sony to rip people off. They were advertised as what they were and what features they had. The customers choose which model they wanted. What is the problem ? The cheapest way for Sony to market a lower cost model is to simply rebadge the Tuner model, leave out the Tuner and sell it at a lower price. jaylen
Easy there, Bob. I never said it was stupid. What I found to be "stupid" was people buying the radio remote and it selling for more than or equal to what an MD unit costs. They were advertised as what they were and what features they had.Edit: No, not for the NH700, at least. Otherwise, the box/e-tailer sites would've said "compatible with Sony radio remotes" and forumers wouldn't be asking if the NH700 works with the 37/39LT.
