dogville
Do you use this software?. I tried it yesterday but it is too faulty. It closes suddenly with no warning and you have to open it again and repit the download. I feel it is very useful because you don't need to import songs to the computer; go directly to the hi-md. Is it possible to do the same with the sonicstage?How?2/ OfftopicHow many times can I format a hi-md?Secondary efects? What is more useful, format or erase if you want to delete everything?. Thanks so much
KJ_Palmer
Are you using the latest version of SB (2.0.05.25150) - you can download it here if not. This seems very stable, but of course it might depend on your system configuration. It's best to use format for wiping a whole disk to get rid of systems files and so on... Roamer
No, you can't do the same with SonicStage (you need to import first with SonicStage). Personnally, I use SonicStage almost only for uploading live recordings and SB for downloading from CD. Only grief is that SB is missing Atrac3+ @352k . dogville
After having worked with it for some days, I come to the conclussion that the RH-1 is an extraordinary player but the software is the worst thing I've ever seen. MD burner is rubbish and SS not better. What a shame!. I think this machine deserves a much better and stable software. On this point, I-tunes is much better by far. Apple cares about the software and sony simply abandon it. Shame on you sony for this crappy software regards Edited July 28, 2006 by dogville
A440
I'm really surprised you're having trouble with Simple Burner. SonicStage has been slow to improve but Simple Burner has always just worked for me and apparently most other people. Do you have programs that might be conflicting with it? Particularly skins or graphics-intensive programs? Also, possibly, security programs or music players (though I have at least 8 other media players--WMP, Winamp, Foobar, Quintessential, Creative, RealPlayer, Quicktime, Nerovision--and have no conflicts). Take a look at Task Manager (press CTRL-ALT-DEL just once) and see what else is running that might be conflicting with Simple Burner. Google some of the unfamiliar program names. Have you ever looked at all the programs loaded at Startup with Start/Run/msconfig/Startup (tab) Uncheck the unnecessary ones, like qttask, Adobe updates, etc. I have a HP printer that installed half a dozen things to run on Startup that were completely pointless--you may have some other programs that were sneaked in there that you don't need. I'm not saying Sony makes the greatest software. But I always considered Simple Burner a success.

SonicStage has been slow to improve but Simple Burner has always just worked for me and apparently most other people. A440, I have no idea what programmes can be conflicting with SB. I have a new computer with an AMD 64 processor. I'll try. The problem is that SB closes suddenly when he wants. I open it again and it works with the same song/s I'm ripping. Then it closes again randomly although I always get to rip them, fortunately. It's that sudden break down what annoys me.I have a great programme called "Autoruns" to control those things. The only programme running is the Kaspersky suite and it happens even with it disconnected.Lucky you. I wish it was for my computer too . Sure there's a conflict with some programme but finding out which is almost impossible. Thanks for your help Edited July 29, 2006 by dogville
A440
The AMD 64 does 64-bit processing. Is there some setting you can change so that Simple Burner runs in 32-bit mode?Do you have a NVidia graphics card? Some NVidia drivers can conflict with SonicStage, so you may have to get a different version. Search these forums for Nvidia. Also, are you sure your CD drive is OK? Have you tested it reading or burning CDs with other programs? Edited July 30, 2006 by A440

I will have a look as if by any chance there's a new version, but not sure this patch would fix the problem. My computer runs on 32 mode so the problem is not there. My drives are okay because the failure happens in both. A sony and a plextor. I will search on the forum for NvidiaThanks
