carlesraf
Hi!!I bought this unit from ebay few days ago, and it's still works. It's souns pretty good , for the atrac 1.1 version.I can record on it via analog audio via jack to jack cable, but when I conect the optical one,the screen change from analog to "no signal".I tried this sample frequencies---> 48KH,44KH and 22Kh but none of them works.I have another unit, MZ-NHf800 and the MZ-R1 that conected at the same source works fine,so the cable it's not the problem, I think....Anybody nows what frencuency this unit can record? Thanks for all!!!I love Minidisc!!! Roamer
Nice piece of history !Internal sampling frequency is 44,1 Khz (same as CD), so there is an issue if you can't record at that frequency.By the way, the manual can be downloaded in the equipement section. ATELETRONICS
i wonder what atrac 1.1 sounds like? i can tell by listening that version 4.5 does not sound as good as atrac type-r. if you use the analog in from a good quality deck output how does the recording sound compared to the original. ZosoIV
ATRAC 1 is pretty awful - no short blocks, lots of quantization noise, bad DACs, lowpass at 15kHz. In short, sort of like a Blade-encoded 160kbps MP3!
NIGHTS
ATRAC 1 is pretty awful - no short blocks, lots of quantization noise, bad DACs, lowpass at 15kHz. In short, sort of like a Blade-encoded 160kbps MP3!I second this, although I have only ever heard ATRAC 2.0, which sounded very tinny I'd imagine that ATRAC 1 would've been even worse. still I'd love to have an MZ-1 someday just as a piece of history, what are that chances of Sony actually still servicing those units? carlesraf
HI!! ;Finaly I can record trow optical cable!!!This unit only seems to record via optical if you conect the optical cable to the regular cd player, I use a DVD player whit optical output. It's seems that this unit can't record via optical usb soundcards, as in my case Sound Blaster Extigy and Sound Blaster MP3, even the others units that I have works fine, no idea way If your Ac-DC are broken, you can use a normal Ac-DC converter, only one think....It can be capable of giving 12V as ouput whit a 1Ma, less amperage makes that you can't recarge the battery correctly or record and play ok.The runtime of the bat it will be about 1 hour of continus playback, on recording mode about 45 minutes.
