Sonic Stage import

I have recently upgraded from sonicStage ver 3.1 to 4.0 (CP). Now whenever I try to check in a song that I checked out only minutes before, it asks about importing. It doesn't recognize the song came from the same PC. :( Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kent

What exactly is it asking? Post a pic?

Sorry, I don't know how to post a pic - but here's what it says:

"A track can be imported to your computer. SS can then be used to either play the trck or transfer it to a portable device/media. Are you sure you want to import a track? Yes No Help"

Sony has dropped a lot of the anti-piracy stuff so checking-in (i.e. removing it from a disc so the transfer counter gains one, which was used for limiting the number of times a track could be downloaded in the early days of NetMD) a track isn't necessary anymore.

If this isn't what you are trying to do, please give more details (what MD are you using, is the track still present on PC, what format is the track in,...?)

the message about uploading is a strange one in SS4.0... I get it when uploading my own recordings (which is evident) but also when I try to delete a track or try to format a disc. It seems that SS4.0 just wants to make sure you do not delete anything you might regret later and uploads it to PC before actually erasing anything

I'm trying to do what I did in 3.1 - check in a song that I checked out in order to free space on a Hi-MD. I have an RH10 and use Win 2000 Pro. Yes, that's the message I expect to see when uploading something not already in My Library. The songs are MP3s and still on the PC and in My Library, so I don't really need to check them back in - unless it's going to count the times I've checked a song out and stop allowing me to do so at some point.

I am using a Hi-MD blank that has songs on it from 2 difference PCs, but I know exactly which songs were checked out from each PC.

Thanks!

Kent

ok, but what does it do when you press ok/yes? is there a real error? cause this is just a warning message that you can safely ignore (in the worst case it'll upload the track to your PC again, which takes a bit of time)

and what do you exactly mean by 'check-in'? in SS you have a couple of arrows (one left one right) and pressing the one left it will try to upload that track but that is not necessary to make room. If you want to make rooma and you've still got the tracks you're about to remove somewhere else, just erase them (select and delete in SS or edit delete track on the MD itself without PC-connection)

as I said before... since some time Sony has dropped most copy-protection extras like the transfer count which required check-in/check-out so just erase without worries...

When I did say OK, it uploaded the song into the library where I then find another copy of the same song. What I've taken to doing is deleting the song from the MD using SS, to free space up, as you suggest. In 3.4 (which I was using before my recent change to 4.0) it "returned" songs to SS, removing them from the MD by pressing the arrow (pointed left) to the library - which is all I've ever known to do in that situation.
