clandestinesaint
Well, i bought an mz-rh910 a little less than a year ago, and it worked great when i got it. One of the primary reasons that i chose this one was a.)hi-MD and b.) you can record w/o a computer. The place i was living at the time had no computer and no access to one at all, so this only made sense. It worked great for what i bought it for, i managed to fill up the hi-md disc it came with, so i was content. However, i moved to texas maybe 3 months after buying it and i accidently left it in my dads car for maybe 3 or 4 months. I wasn't too concerned about it, but when i moved back to kansas city 3 months after that, it was acting very strangely. It would read the first song when you put in a disc, but it seemed like it would queue up the song to the extent of filling up the g-protection memory, but when it finished playing from memory, it just stopped and froze up. It also wouldn't switch song at all, wouldn't go to the next song, jog dial, groups, anything. None of this is my current problem though, you see, for some reason, i picked it up the other day because i didn't have my ipod and i was still kinda sad about it, and i turned it on, and it worked, perfectly actually. It would switch songs, play them all the way through, it was like it never stopped working, and i have no idea why either, i just left it alone for 4 months or so. Anyway, that was just to give you guys some background on this thing. I installed the software (SS 4 screwed up my burner, so i tried 3 and it worked) and my dad gave me a cable (not the original, but it fits and recognizes the player). It SEEMS to work, it recognizes the player in SS, it transfers songs, it formattes, it does everything you would expect it to do, but when you disconnect it, there is nothing on the disc, at all . My hi-md disc is also screwed up, but thats for another day...Please help! I know this is a long comment, but it wanted to give a little background so that the problem could maybe be diagnosed a little better. Thanks in advance for any and all help or ideas, it's much appreciated! And hey! great community!
zachg
What kind of computer are you using, and what kind of files are you trying to transfer?
Sony_Fan
You left your unit in a car for 3 or 4 months? Guess what? If it was hot inside the car, your unit is heat damaged and so is your disc. You could have called your dad and told him to take your unit out of the car and put it in a cool, dry place. If it's busted, it's your fault.
bogon07
When you are using this USB cable does the mz-rh910's display indicate that something is being tranferred or is connecting to the PC. Maybe it is just the disc that is damaged; have you tried another one ?
Skradgee
Try using that disc in another player if you can find one. If you're still working off of that first disc, try using a new one...if you can find one. OK, I suppose they're not that hard to find online. Anyway if you're warranty is still valid (within a year from purchase) maybe that recorder could be fixed for cheap by going to the Sony support site. I had a + experience with that. clandestinesaint
actually it was during the winter. Had i remember i would have told him. I'm only wondering if there is anything i can do in case it's not broken. I'm not shirking responsibility, of course it's my fault for leaving it in there. Zackg -It's a custom build amd based pc thats running win xp home sp2. It was recently reformatted, so it's running well and doesn't have much in the way of trash on it. The files are mp3's, which i am transferring with SS 3, so i don't really know what they convert them to. From what i've been reading though, it seems that rh910 doesn't have very good mp3 support.thanks!I've tried 3 regular md's, and 1 hi-md, since i only have the one that it came with. When i connect it, it has the (MD--PC) display and when i transfer, it says ACCESS and flashes that. Also, the recorder makes noise and seems to be transferring and saving the song, it also says data saving and has the little bars at the bottom that go down in increments. Before, sonicstage recognized that it was connected and let me transfer files as if everything was normal, it just didn't save them. Now it won't even recognize the player unless i restart.skradgee- Thats probably what i'm going to have to do, what do i need to send it in? Or will the site tell me?thanks! They ask for a copy of the receipt, but if you can proove some other way that it was purchased within a year, that might be alright. Maybe they'd let you slide if you had the origional box and all the accessories (they ship the same accessories back to you anyway if it's repaired). Good luck.
