stussyking
Rh1 description :Uploading is in no way restricted (unlimited uploads of mic, line and digital recordings are permitted) What does this mean ? and compared to RH10 , this is lacking in other md players too ? Roamer
This means that you upload anything , except tracks originating from SonicStage, and including those from legacy MDs (SP/LP2/LP4). The RH1 is the only unit allowing this, others HiMDs can only upload HiMd modes.
Sparda
the rh1 is the only recorder/player that can upload unlimited recordings of anything from any input other then the ones already from sonicstage.

Ishiyoshi
so would i be able to upload a disc that was made from my minidisc deck??? since it didnt use SS to record the tracks.Yes, you can basically upload all recordings (microphone recordings, analog in and optical digital recordings) via USB to PC with the MZ-RH1.Note: you just can't upload NetMD SP/LP2/LP4 recordings previously done via USB. raintheory
Just to add, also can't upload MD-DATA discs made with a Multi-Track MiniDisc recorder.
KJ_Palmer
Also, uploading SP (292k) tracks with the RH1 results in transcoding to either ATRAC 3 Plus format (256kbps) or Wav format. The difference in quality from SP to 256k seems to be minimal though, and editing recordings is much easier on a deck, so it still seems a valid use of deck recording.. garcou
Is it possible to upload prerecorded with RH1?
raintheory
Is it possible to upload prerecorded with RH1?Yep, I can confirm this.
stussyking
so that means if i buy MDs that already pre-recorded/pre-mastered from the CD store , i can play on the RH10 ?
raintheory
so that means if i buy MDs that already pre-recorded/pre-mastered from the CD store , i can play on the RH10 ?Prerecorded MDs will play on just about any MiniDisc player/recorder.Although if you want to upload them to PC, you need the RH1

Anyways the best way to find out is to try it out yourself..... Edited September 14, 2006 by Sparda
stussyking
prerecorded could mean legacy formats too..or why dun i owe 2 formats .. nh900 n another legacy format ?
A440
As far as I know, there were no prerecorded Hi-MDs. Sony gave up on the idea early in the history of MD, so they're all legacy. Which is why you need the RH1 to upload them.
Sparda
Respectively I think its a bit of a apple to oranges comparision. The RH10 and RH1 are way different units, the only link i can think of, off the top of my head is that they are both Hi-MD. If you plan to purchase a new unit go with the RH1, you can't go wrong. And i can vouch for that, before i was also having my doubts but they are all gone now. Imo the RH10 is a shelf queen.
stussyking
i was thinking of nh900 then slowly upgrade to rh1..
A440
I've said it elsewhere, but I really think the NH900 is a mistake. Its PAUSE and STOP buttons are two sides of the same button so you always risk stopping your recording, and losing your settings, whenever you try to pause it. Its display is hard to read--unlit behind smoky plastic. Its battery latch has to be taped shut so it won't pop open. To get significant battery life you have to add the outboard AA, which is clunky. I sold mine after a few weeks, but people who have had them longer say the buttons start malfunctioning. For a starter Hi-MD unit, get the NH700. It's as good a recorder as the NH900 and much better designed. And you'll be happy to have a long-running, easily replaceable AA battery rather than the little rechargeable gumstick. heathenmagic
I can second Sparda, the RH1 is fantastic. This is my first Hi-MD unit. Hope to test it out for real next weekend, so should have some recordings for y'all.
The Low Volta
well, although I can understand A440's remarks, at least in my case they aren't completely correct:- I haven't had any problems with the stop/pause being one button- the display is close to useless indeed, but the RM-MC40ELK (bought extra) fixed that easily- I've had my NH900 for almost two years now and it has seen lots of use and the battery latch is still attached and it manages to stay closed without any help from tape- the battery life is quite limited compare to the old NetMD models and the AA models but not much less than the RH1 etc.- I have had the button issue, but it was there right away, not after a while and it is a repairable fault (had it, repaired it under warranty and never had it since) so it is safe if you buy a new unit with warranty as you will notice it quie quickly and can have it repaired under warranty if neededstill, the NH700 is a very good choice as well
