dglp
Hi, I 've borrowed the above device from a friend. I haven't got a user's guide, and am wondering where to get info about using the thing! I tried searching the Sony website, but it's *&$%£ useless! Can you point me to a user's guide? dglp
Or, indeed, here: MZ-N910 manualNow I'm making progress. But since you're here, let me ask about transferring recordings using USB. It looks like I have to install Sonic Stage on my PC first. Is that right? I'm downloading it from the Sony site, but am wondering why I'd need a full-fledged program when most devices are simply recognised by Windows. From what I see here, it looks like I've got to use the audio output (headphone) and record it using my recording software (Nero/Audacity/etc). "NetMD + Older MD unit users, please read this:You cannot upload through USB. Well, all hope isn't lost. If you want to upload live recordings made on your Minidisc unit, there are ways you can upload, albeit realtime, that can produce satisfying results. The analogue upload method:"http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070It's not an 'upload' per se, but a re-recording. It'll have to do... In that case, why bother with Sonic stage? Edited October 2, 2006 by dglp
KJ_Palmer
The old NetMD machines such as the N910 were very limited when it came to PC use. No proper uploading and only downloading via conversion to ATRAC format with the Sonicstage (or Simpleburner) software. The newer Hi-MD machines are much better with full uploading/downloading facilities and data transfers, but all audio transfers must still be done via the software. raintheory
Right, I'll just concur here...You only need the SonicStage software if you are interested in transferring music from your PC to MiniDisc.
