Guys,

I have downloaded some MP3 files but when I try and import them into SS it comes up with an error message: "Cannot find files of the specified format for import (error Code 00007173)"

What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I can do to get SS to recognise these files?

Many thanks for your advice on this. It has taken ages to find and download this set of files, so am reluctant to start all over again.

Assuming they play back in other players, there are some mp3 files that give SonicStage problems:

Low-bitrate mp3s (48 kbps or below)--reconvert them to something higher with dbpoweramp or your converter of choice.

Variable bitrate mp3s--reconvert at constant bitrate

Unconventional tags--re-tag as ID3v1 with shorter titles and artist names, no comments.

Try one of your problem mp3s with these tricks and see if it starts to work.

A440,

Thanks for the advice. My son converted via iTunes and it works now for some of the tracks, though not all of them will transfer still.

One other question: the tracks are Russian but I can't get the Cyrillic to display in SS3.4. Is there any way to get it to show Cyrillic at all? I can't see any settings that allow you to do this.

Thanks,

mercurius
