Webmaster
Matt (of Minidisco) points out a photo of John Bolton in front of a Sony MZ-B100 at a UN press briefing.

mdmania
I wonder whether he owns a RH1 so that he can upload his recording with it. Overall, it's good to know that someone still using md out there.
Russell Letson
The B100 is a terrific field recorder--and as far as I can tell, it's out of production. I went looking for a backup unit a while ago and couldn't find any in stock, and only a couple on eBay. I guess Sony is abandoning the ENG market to the solid-state guys (the Zoom H4 would make a reasonable replacement for my uses, I guess).
BobS
You are probably right. I would love to see a HiMD update to the B100. I find it is my most useful MD and it is very rugged. Still has the advantages of removeable media (compared to flash units). Instant archive (it is already on a disk), ease of editing on the unit, Unlimited storage (just get more inexpensive media). reefbeef
I wonder if the unit still works after being sprayed with Bolton's bullsh*%.
Skradgee
I wonder if the unit still works after being sprayed with Bolton's bullsh*%. Upon encoding the atrac, the unit breaks down and displays a message "does not compute!"
petertkalec
Jeez, not much going on in the MD world when the front page news is that someone used a MD to conduct an interview.
ZosoIV
Sadly, that MZ-B100 is probably more popular and well liked at the UN than Bolton ever was
reefbeef
Upon encoding the atrac, the unit breaks down and displays a message "does not compute!"Before his resignation, Sony engineers were working on a subroutine in the codec to handle "fuzzy math."
