Unfortunately there is no sighting of minidisc from CES 2007.

No one actually thought there WOULD be did they? Minidisc is something that Sony probably hopes people will forget; to 99% of average folk out there, it is a symbol of why Sony is hated and failing, not an example of their technical amazement and ability (we make up the 1% that think THAT way).

Sony is caught up with the new bluray disc right now. I'm sure that minidisc still in their bussiness agenda but not as a priority.

I am sure that SONY is able to pursue more than one technology at the same time. And there is always the example of how well MD sells in Japan. The RH1 demonstrates that the interest is there when they offer a good product. I hope that SONY will learn from this. They most likely have missed the opportunity with this format. I am grateful for my RH1, however. B)

I've said it before and I'll say it again! Gimme a Blu-ray Hi-MD!!! Of course offering relative physical size and battery life or more. Or just make 2GB+ discs.

I don't know how many times this been said, but MD/HiMD is Magneto optical techonology. Blu-ray (and CD/DVD/HD-DVD, etc) are optical. They are not the same technology.

Yes but:

CD and MD are both 780 nm wavelength "red-ray" laser

DVD is 660 nm wavelengh "red-ray" laser (and 1 DVD = 6 CD in term of capacity)

Blue-ray uses shorter wavelength laser ( 330nm?) so the colour is blue.

Combination of optomagnetical and DVD wavelenght should increase MD capacity (x6) , and with blue-ray laser would increase a lot!
