minidome
I wondering when Sony will put the new model of HI-MD on the market - I think now it is important to have on the market a low priced HI-MD to compete with Mp3's, even if this new item won't feature any important technolgical improvements. I admit I'd love to see a Hi-MD with colour display but ... What do you think about it?CiaoDomenico
Sparda
Sony already gave up on competing with mp3 players, because they failed miserably. Hi-MD is now marketed towards the "Recording Professional".
Superbaldguy
Meaning the RH1 is the style of MiniDisc device Sony is trying to market; time will tell if this is the last of its kind, let's hope there is a successor or at least the RH1 continues to be made for awhile. 2-J
The RH-1 was announced by this time last year:- http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14814 so I guess that implies if a new unit is coming this year, we'll hear about it very soon? sector001
i wouldn't hold my breath for a new recorder....
minidome
In fact, what I meant to say is that - considering this difficult moment - for such a fantastic item it would be a pity not to have an alternative product to MZ-RH1 which could enlarge the market - in the hope that in the future HI-MD would come back and be available for a larger number of people.I asked the question because usually this time of year, in the past, Sony used to lauch the new models. Thanks for futher comments.
2-J
If no new unit comes out this year, am I correct in thinking that would be the first time no new portable minidisc unit has been released since 1992?

Avrin
At least they still make and sell the RH1. With continuously increasing firmware versions. But no-one here knows what the changes are.
smkranz
I would love to see the introduction of new models, for the sake of the continuation of the format. But I already have the MZ-NH900 and the MZ-RH1. My wallet cannot take any more innovation!
RobA
I'm hoping for some new models. I'm not a fan of the rh1 at all. Hoping that the 4th gen is better, if there is a 4th gen.
