BIGHMW
Can anybody help me get a new black RM-MC55ELK remote as an upgrade from my RM-MC60 for use with my MZ-RH710 Black?Perhaps maybe Ishiyoshi or Guitarfxr (over in Japan, since they are a Japan-only model) can help me out here, and I do have PayPal, so give me a price quote and we'll see what we can do to get me one.I checked eBay this week but they are all sold out of the black ones. I know all of you recommend the 55ELK instead of a 53EL, as an upgrade from my 60 remoteI would rather get this rather than use a 38EL that came wth my RH1, or the 53EL, which is available through Sony DAPC, which is the same as the 55ELK but with an inferior displayThanks,Ray Jackson. Richard
If I recall correctly the 55ELK is not available for sale as an accessory in Japan like the 40ELK and 35ELK. You may be able to get one as a spare part but it'll likely be more expensive. Your best bet is probably ebay. I bought a black 55ELK from a Chinese seller last year. BIGHMW
Thanks, Rich. I'll probably wait it out until whatever auctions of the 55ELK were up earlier this week get relisted. Or get the 53EL Black from Sony DAPC
Richard
I'll keep an eye out for any black 55ELK's for you. Otherwise the only advantage of the ELK is that it will display Asian characters. The screen simply has more pixels compared to the 53EL. This is obviously in order to display complex characters. The only effect it has on the standard roman alphabet is that they will appear taller and thinner on a 55ELK compared to the 53EL.You could also try this store http://store.whsle.biz/ - another Chinese seller, he only has the blue model listed, but it may be worth an inquiry. I guess they may look slightly smoother as the pixels are smaller.

BIGHMW
UPDATE: The remote came in today, only 10 short days after it was first shipped from China, and it is a thing O' beauty!!! It goes perfect with my MZ-RH710 Black and my phones of choice, the EX85SL and the Q66LW, both in Black.BTW my other setup is an MZ-NH700 Silver with matching RM-MC40ELK and EX90SL and Q66LW, both in Silver. Now I can sell off all of my other earphones/headphones and remotes, and you guys get first crack at them!!!Details next week, and yes I do take PayPal.For those who criticize its right-hand-based location of the headphone jack, just take yourself back in time about 10 years ago when people like me had no other option and owned great units that were made in Japan like the MZ-R50 (my first MD Walkman, I have owned quite a stackful of players and recorders over the years, due to technology upgrades), where your OEM stock remote was the cool-for-its-time RM-MZR50 LCD remote and where both the non-LCD and especially LCD-displayed "stick-style" (which the 55ELK remote is) was not quite available yet (the first one being the 2002 RM-MC12ELK, some 4 years later), it may take some time to get used to having the phones jack on the right side as opposed to the now-traditional left side of the unit, but it's well worth it. It's like going from right-hand drive (UK and commonwealths) to left-hand drive (North America and most other countries). It should be a piece of cake, hey, it took David Beckham no time at all in getting used to it, driving on the right side of the road as opposed to the left like of it back in the UK. bobt
You have truly used the "source" Ray, have fun with the new remote. Does it have the reversible clip so you can use it "both" ways??TTFNBob
BIGHMW
Yes it does, in matte black, along with the rest of the fuselage, to go along with its predominantly-jet black tips, just perfect for my inline skate gear setup. BIGHMW
Some pics!!!!Pics coming soon, Wiz!!!Also, this just in, the Roman Characters read differently on my D-NE700 Atrac CD Walkman as opposed to either my RH710 or NH700 where they read thin and more defined as opposed to large and separated (spaced apart) on the NE700 (and I assume most other CD Walkmans). Also, I intend to test it later on tonight with my RH1, as I heard on this board that it reads differently on it than usual as noted on this link:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...p;hl=RM-MC55ELKC YA!!!Ray Jackson"AK47"P.S.: MP3s (not downloadable ah, shucks!) and videos of myself available now at http://www.MySpace.com/BIGHMW I invite all of my colleagues to check them (and me) out on it.
