judasjack
Hi!,Just purchased a Sony MZ-RH1 and wish to transfer all my old MD recordings onto my trusty G4 Apple Mac.Dead simple! Strange thing is that the importing software supplied won't recognise the media or connection from the unit viaa USB cable. However, when I attempt to transfer from Hi-MD, there is no problem. The files appear as expected in WAV.on the desktop. Brilliant!I purchased the MZ-RH1 in order to get away from having to use analogue mini plug connections. My Mac OS X software is 10.4.06 if that means anything to anyone.Question: I am doing something wrong? Am I missing to press a button or something? There's nothjing in the instruction manual and the shop folks are pretty clueless becausethey don't know how to operate the equipment only sell the stuff!JudasJack

The Sofware that came with it is version 1.0 right , it has a lot of bugs in it . They fixed most of the problems and simplified to interface , you need to download version 2.0 I have the RH1 and a Macbook Pro , core2duo , and OSx 10.4.1 http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/Music_T...fer/MT.asp?l=enthere is the link to the software , first Uninstall 1.0 get rid of all folders ok , then open the 2.0 dmg , you should be fine afer that PM me for how it works. judasjack
Hi and many thanks for getting back to me so soon!Have followed your sensible advice and downloaded the version 2 on to my Mac and it works fine with the new HiMD discs.Of course the RH1 unit won't recognise the old MD discs, doesn't do the "accept" thing when you slot in the disc at the start, so I'm stuck really with a load of material I can't transfer except by mini jack cable. Urrrrgh! Is there any other solution?Am I really getting less quality through this way of imputting rather than USB? The quality sounds rather good to me afterabit of careful KHz manipulation in Apples Soundtrack pro Editing software. A tadd of bass here and there does wondersfor the old voals!JJ

The Mac Soft was designed for the working audio tracker , who goes out records , uploads and burns , The Windows side is designed for the Audio collector , Who has 30 bazillion songs and an mp3 playerAnd by the way , welcome to the MD community Edited July 16, 2007 by Guitarfxr
judasjack
And a very warm welcome to you to!Okay, I get the picture but wish now that I didn't donate my last minidisc player MZ-E10 to the last school I was working at thinking that I wouldn't ever need it again.I wonder if it ever got used? Anyway, I think the best thing for me to do is just hold tight with what I've got in terms of transfer quality via a mini jack phono cable and set my sights on enjoyingthe USB connection. Thanks,JJ

judasjack
Boxed the lot with all the operating manuals + a £60 tie pin mic!. I know, I know but I was in funds at the time and had all the recordings loaded onto my hard disc.Funny thing is I miss it bad like my old porta DAT. I like this new one (RH1) but it just ain't the same. When I first got it out of the box on Saturday gone, I was shockedto see/feel so much plastic. Those three buttons on the top are a joke but at least it has the USB connection for my Mac and I can get away from those awfulmini phone connection cables. What I'll do next is get hold of another E10 off ebay and then have the best of both worlds.
