RM-MC35ELK & the NW series

Question

Hi All,

I recently got a RM-MC35ELK for my A3000, which works well. The only trouble is that I can't seem to navigate from album to album with it, even though there are two 'folder' buttons on the unit. The instructions are not that clear:

http://www.sonydigital-link.com/manuals/ma...C35ELK%20(NW-A)

The folder buttons seem to have the same function as the track up/down button and I can't get out of the current album unless I'm on random play.

Any Ideas?

Where did you get your remote, i just got my rm-mc35elk for my nw-hd1 and i can't get the folder options to work either. I got my remote on ebay, and i suspect it might be a counterfeit product that's maybe why the folders don't work. If anyone has a rm-mc35elk remote from sony directly or an authorized dealer and has a NW player, does your folder options work?

Got mine on Ebay as well, but it has not given me any problems. (Is there any other place to get hold of one in this country?)

The limitation on its use is that you cannot browse through the albums on the player while a track is playing - if you do, it simply skips to the next album and starts playing that.

You can, however, browse through the albums while the player is not playing. I think that is intentional, as it is the same design and works the same way as the remote that was supplied with my old Sony CD Walkman.

On the subject of remotes, you often see a sleek remote in a similar design to the A1000/A3000 in photos of the player - does anyone know if you can actually get hold of these remotes?

hi!!

I have this Remote (is it with the LCD?) from an authorized dealer. And it works well so far. It depends in which Playmode you are. I have the HD5 and when i play in artist-search-mode, then i can get from artist to artist, like they come in the list. And if i am in the "normal" Albums list then i can switch to the next and previous album. So far no problems.

The mode depends on the mode you are playing right now.

I've put the player in 'Normal' play mode, but the folder buttons just cycle through the tracks on whatever album I'm on. Also, I'm not sure how to get the player to 'stop playing', there is aways a track on the 'now playing' section, which can either be played or paused only.

What am I doing wrong?!

Here is a bit from the MC35 manual:

(4)Finds the beginning of the first track in the previous ablum in the selected search mode or in the next album, or the track previous to the currently playing track in the track list or the next track. When "All Songs" is selected, finds the beginning of an index or the first track in the next index.

I'm using it on an A1000 and had the same problem with the folder buttons just cycling through tracks on the same album.

After reading peterjf's reply I found that I could cycle through the first tracks of different albums of the same artist after selecting "all songs" for that artist. Ok if you're listening to Eno or someone with a lot of albums but you need to use the player itself as well as the remote.

By selecting "all songs" on the player you can cycle throught the first song for each letter of the alphabet which is not all that useful.

peterjf.....Sony Australia has that sleek remote (RMNWS1) on its site for $39AUD and I've also seen it in a shop.

Hey guys!!

Can anybody tell what happens if you go to the album list and then play a track out of this "album" list and then press this folder + or - botton????

Does it work or not?

I always use the album playlist so for me it works well in the HD5.

Can you all please recheck if you have the A3000/A1000 and this RM-MC35ELK??

Thanks

Tom

hei guys!!!

A friend of mine bought the A1000 on monday and he also has this remote from an older CD Walkman.

The same problem with only skipping the tracks and not the Albums.

He did a Firmware-Upgrade and nothing changed.

if you look here:

http://www.sonydigital-link.com/manuals/ma...C35ELK%20(NW-A)

it seems so that there is another model with a "2" or (MW-A) behind the type. So it seems to be another remotecontrol....

Bye

Tom

Got my NW-A3000 on wednesday and was worried about dropping it, (its a bit slippy) so looked for a remote, difficult to find/purchase.

Then I decided to try the one I was supplied with my MZ-NH700, its a RM-MC21, I was surprised to find that all the functions on the remote work perfectly.

Just thought I would mention this as it might save someone time/money.

I'm new here but very impressed, did the volume hack today and as said by others, a major improvement.

Thanks :D

Did firmware upgrade on A3000 and the folder/album button now works on rm-mc35elk remote.

Is the RM-MC35ELK identical to the RM-MC55ELK? I have searched about that and it still isn't clear to me. Is it an EU/US/JAP market discrepancy thing?

Has anybody used an RM-MC55ELK with a NW-A3000?

I got a black RM-MC55ELK/BM ("universal remote backlight") off eBay (hasn't arrived yet) and I was wondering which features are and aren't supported in a NW-A3000.

I'm not that fussed about being able to use ALL of the buttons, as long as there aren't any MAJOR compatibility issues.

Thanks in advance.
