If you can get XP on to that machine , or better yet , Win2000 pro , it will be a screaming machine , but Vista , .......... It is causing SOOOOO many probs , and on the Tech sites I go to and the people I know are all saying the same thing , "Leave Vista Alone " it is not ready yet . Give it 6 more months and hope that all the hackers dont have it completely taken apart by then.

I tried to get an XP machine when I was in Vegas, but they don't seem to exist/Glad to hear about your back, no more body surfing for you this week!!Take care,Bob

Richard
I haven't had any problems with my NH1 on my Vista laptop using SS 4.3 (yet). But I guess I was "lucky" in that it came with Sonic Stage 4.3 pre-installed. What were you getting on the reboot Bob - blue screen or just the app won't start? What were you getting on the reboot Bob - blue screen or just the app won't start?Told me that I lost ini.exe, would not fix itself on the HP repair box, had one quick BSOD but I couldn't see what it said. Also had one dialog box saying could be a hardware issue and to unplug any recently installed hardware, unplugged the printer, nothing happened. Luckily it's a new system with little installed, so a reinstall wasn't too painful, but two in two days, not impressedThanks,Bob
bobt
slight veer off on topic, has anyone tried SS 3.4 or 4.0 in Vista, tried again this morning with 4.4, was super careful about no programs running, careful on reboot, let Vista take it's time, didn't touch anything, after 1/2 to 3/4 hour, black screen of death, said it lost memtest.exe, third reformat in three days, damn I'm getting good at it, would prefer not to have to do that. Thanks Bob

It will store certain files in RAM during installs and ini.exe that is an initiation file ....... yu may have a bad mem , that is what I am thinking at this point . bobt
Yeah! success, ended up one of my sim cards wasn't fully seated from the factory, why it chose to manifest itself usually on SS install I have no Idea. Noticed yesterday that puter froze after sitting about 1/2 hour , black screen of death, memtest problem again took side off, checked memory, that's when I found the one module clip not fully engaged, took them all out and made sure that they clicked into place. Strangely enough the puter passed the memory test.No to move on, has anyone found a way to make simple burner behave, going to try the compatability rout. Thanks again 4 all your helpBob
Strungup
only a portion of the Ram is being used at any given time , It gets shared with "Virtual Memory " which uses Hard disk space as memory. so the empty space or unused part of the memory ,as long as was not being accessed didnt show . When you installed SS it tried to access THAT particular portion of memory for its operation because it doesnt want to use the Virtual mem on the Hard Drive.glad you got it running
