erland
Hello out there. Glad this community is still active, cuz I thought MD was all but dead until I acquired one yesterday (NHF800).I've been all excited about it until half an hour ago. Recording was working great yesterday, but now it will only record roughly 10 seconds of audio before turning itself off with no explanation. If I stop recording sooner, it shuts down before it can complete writing the audio to disk.Playback is unaffected, works perfectly until I try to record or format the disc.Battery is full and AC is plugged in. Checked the manual and have my AC adapter set to 3Volts (that IS correct, right?).After several attempts, switching batteries, changing AC to 1.5V, etc, etc... it already ruined one disc ("Cannot Record or Play").All I can think of is the two occasions where it was dropped from a height of no more than a few inches... could that be it? Anyone have any clue as to what's happening here? HELP!! Edited September 18, 2007 by erland
Strungup
Dropping is not good for an MD , especially an OLD one , just like OLD people , Ya gotta be NICE to them if you want them to cooperate .My R50"s (yes that is plural ) are being very good to me
THIS SUCKS
see if the laser looks dirty! are you using a factory power adapter?
Avrin
Using a power adapter other than the one supplied with the unit could be the cause of the problem. Playback is normal, since power consumption is relatively low in this mode. But recording requires much more power. Probably something overloads, and a protection circuit triggers.According to the user manual, the voltage should be 3V. No info about the current. greenmachine
The supplied power adapter of my NH700, which is a similar model without the radio remote, is rated at 1A (1000mA), which is fairly high. Your replacement adapter may not be able to keep up with the current requirements of the peaks in rec mode. Be very careful with the polarity, reversed polarity may cause permanent damage. Are you sure your batteries are OK?
