remy117
I recently purchased an md module player for my Mazda RX-8 for $425.Looks and sounds awesome so far, but I've been called "crazy" by friends more than a couple times.Which makes me wonder, am I really crazy? I mean in the current day and age of mp3s and ipods,(my friend recently purchased a 2007 Mitsubishi lancer and it comes with a hard drive for music!!) purchasing an md player for such a price might really seem stupid to many.I have an ipod shuffle myself for the gym and public, but at home I have the MZ-RH1 and LAM-X1 and enjoy it plenty more than the ipod.Just thought if there would be anyone who can add to this. Anyone with a md unit in their car? P.S. LP4 sounds amazingly good in the car.
Superbaldguy
If you're happy with MiniDisc and its excellent SQ, why not? It seems to be a very practical medium for road listening.

bluecrab
I bought a special-order 2006 Ford Escape in May 2006. When it finally arrived and I went to pick it up, the guy at the dealer told me, "Well, here's your unique Escape - not another one like it!" Really, there was nothing special, just a 5-speed and a few other things I wanted. With little delay I had the dashboard taken apart and the door panels off. In went my Sony MDX-CA680X - a unit I'd bought from right here from MDCF Classifieds, months before I'd bought the car. There was no question for me that MD was the way to go. Yeah, I could've bought a non-MD unit with AUX-in and hooked up a portable - and then I'd get to mess with external cables and all that. No thanks. In addition to listening to my "permanent" MDs while driving, I crank out a LOT of "temporary" MDs, mainly in LP2/4. I have never been happier with a car stereo! kino170878
I didn't know they were still making new md car units? The ones I see on ebay are all second hand.
BIGHMW
Both of my rides, my 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS 2.0 and my project 1963 Volkswagen Transporter Kombi (and a split-window bus at that!) have Sony MDX-C5970 HU's, and MDX-65 6-MD changers in each, and coming soon, I will be adding the Connects 2 ASONWHD001 Walkman adapter ineach for use with my MZ-NH700 Hi-MD Walkman as well, so I am a hardcore tried-and-true MD/Hi-MD user, yes folks, even in this day and age of MP3/HDD/iPod players where everyone (including Cindy Margolis, unfortunately) seems to have been brainwashed into thinking that their Apple/iRiver/Zune is better than my/our good-old MD/Hi-MD units from the "old days", but I just have one thing I would like to say to all of them......"ATRAC OR DEATH!!!" New, used, whatever - I was going MD all the way with the new car.

My bus, dubbed PimpWagen (a.k.a. The "V-DUB P-DUB") has (and has had since I bought it back in 2002 for a measly $1200) a 50-horsepower 1600cc dual-port engine taken out of a 1971 VW bay-window Bus (the original engine was a 42 hp, 1500cc single-port motor) and that is plenty fast already, except on slight upgrades (uphill) when I have a full load of groceries on the way back from Costco down in Silverdale, 40 miles away from BIGHMW.com Headquarters (our home) here in Port Townsend, WashingtonWith the suspect standard obsolete drum-based hydrulic braking system, a Porsche 914/914S-based engine woiuld be too much for me, as I am so used to the 1600 that is in there.0-to-60 in 3 days is a-ok with me, unless you drive one of those annoying large SUV's whose drivers think they rule the road and want to tailgate us in order to run us off the road.
