greenmachine
The vast majority of the portable units has no digital output. Some of the earliest models and some decks do.

A440
Find an Iriver H120 or H140 for optical out. Or the original minidisc, MZ-1, but I don't know if that optical out is the compressed (SP) signal.
Andrej
Can a sharp mindisc player/recorder be used as an AD converter? when recording does it output a monitor signal through the optical output?I use my Yamaha MDX-E300 for both AD and DA conversion - works perfect and without influence of ATRAC3 conversion - just in and out in any form AD, AA, DA, DD (in case resampling is needed). I think any reseiver with optical out can be used for this purporse. Edited December 7, 2007 by Andrej
